Syed ‘SumaiL’ Sumail Hassan is the current offlane player for the team Evil Geniuses. He is famous for being a highly skilled mid laner and having won The International 2015 at the young age of 16. ‘SumaiL’ has played for Evil Geniuses for almost the entirety of his Dota 2 career. He has often been regarded as a player with somewhat bad behavior, as he has on several occasions flamed others in game and through social media.

Early Career

‘SumaiL’ had been playing DotA since he was a young child, around 8. In late 2014, he was offered a spot on Evil Geniuses for the upcoming Dota 2 League Season 5 qualifier after ‘Arteezy’ and ‘zai’ had left the team. After successfully qualifying, EG placed 3rd. About a month later, EG participated in the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2015 and won 1st place in a sweeping 3-0 victory against Vici Gaming. It was at DAC 2015, that ‘SumaiL’  became recognized for his incredible Storm Spirit performances and gained respect from players and spectators alike.

Evil Geniuses

Leading up to The International 2015, EG were strong favorites to win the event. This was due to their excellent performances leading up to the event, such as 2nd place finishes at joinDOTA MLG Pro League Season 1, The Summit 3 and ESL One Frankfurt as well as a 1st place finish at Dota Pit League Season 3. EG had established themselves as one of the strongest teams in the world, and at The International 2015, EG managed to come 1st with a 3-1 victory over CDEC Gaming. This made ‘SumaiL’ the youngest player to ever win The International and solidified his reputation as a highly talented player, despite his young age.
The 2015-2016 season brought EG and ‘SumaiL’ even more achievements, including a 1st place finish at The Summit 4, 3rd place at The Shanghai Major and an eventual 3rd place finish at The International 2016. Unfortunately, EG had also placed last at The Manila Major 2016. The next year, ‘SumaiL’ helped EG to achieve a 3rd/4th palce finish at The Boston Major 2016 and The Kiev Major 2017. However, EG faced a disappointingly early departure from The International 2017 when they placed 9th/12th. The 2017-2018 period has also been very successful for Evil Geniuses, as they have claimed a 3rd place finish at DreamLeague Season 8, 3rd/4th at ESL One Genting and 2nd at Galaxy Battles II.

International Tournaments

‘SumaiL’s most notable achievements include a 1st place finish at The International 2015 and at Dota 2 Asia Championships 2015. In addition, he has placed 3rd or 3rd/4th at 4 out of 5 of the Valve sponsored Majors. Overall, he is widely regarded as one of the strongest mid players in the world.
