Career

Early Career

‘UNiVeRsE’ first played on Online Kingdom although he acted as a sub for the team. As a result, he did not participate in The International 2011 himself. He stayed with Online Kingdoms for a few more months and later briefly played with EZ Style and It’s Gosu eSports before moving to a full time support role on Evil Geniuses. He helped his team achieve a 3rd/4th place finish at DreamHack Summer 2012 and the team were later invited to participate in The International 2012. Unfortunately, the team placed 9th/12th. Following this, ‘UNiVeRsE’ left the team and briefly played with Quantic Gaming for the StarLadder Qualifier and RaidCall. A few months later and at the beginning of 2013, he joined Team Dignitas as their offlaner.

Team Dignitas

‘UNiVeRsE’s new team were highly successful. They achieved several top 3 tournament finishes at events including the Ritmix Russian Dota 2 League, DreamHack Summer 2013, and Curse Dota 2 Invitational. The team were invited to The International 2013 although unfortunately, ‘UNiVeRsE’ placed 9th/12th as he had the year prior. In the roster changes that followed The International 2013, ‘UNiVeRsE’ left Team Dignitas and once again joined Evil Geniuses.

Evil Geniuses

‘UNiVeRsE’s debut tournament with Evil Geniuses was the Bigpoint Battle #8, which the team convincingly won. Unfortunately, the team’s performance for the remainder of the year was lackluster. Their most significant tournament finish was 2nd at Electronic Sports World Cup, where the team won $7,500. Shortly after the beginning of 2014, major roster changes were made, and ‘UNiVeRsE’ along with ‘Fear’ were left to find new players for Evil Geniuses. They formed the team S A D B O Y S along with ‘Arteezy’, ‘Zai’ and ‘ppd’, and almost immediately won the Electronic Sports Prime Shock Therapy Cup. Following this, the S A D B O Y S squad were signed by Evil Geniuses.

The new Evil Geniuses squad immediately became one of the strongest teams in the world. They won their debut tournament the Monster Energy Invitational and proceeded to win almost every event that participated at and very rarely finished outside of the top 3. The team were favorites to win The International 2014, where they finished 3rd. They later won the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2015 and went on to win The International 2015. Their success continued into 2016, as they placed 3rd at The Frankfurt Major and The Shanghai Major.

Team Secret

To many people’s surprise, ‘UNiVeRsE’ along with his teammate ‘Arteezy’ left Evil Geniuses to join Team Secret after their 3rd place finish at The Shanghai Major. However, Team Secret’s results were very poor, as they placed 5th/6th at ESL One Manila, 7th/8th at EPICENTER 2016 and joint last at The Manila Major. Following this, ‘UNiVeRsE’ was released from the team and he returned to Evil Geniuses.

Evil Geniuses

‘UNiVeRsE’ redeemed himself to Evil Geniuses at The International 2016. They placed 3rd after making their way all the way through the open qualifiers. They placed 3rd/4th at The Boston Major 2016 and The Kiev Major 2017. However the team very disappointingly only finished 9th/12th at The International 2017. ‘UNiVeRsE’ and Evil Geniuses featured in the True Sight documentary series by Valve which explored the lives of the players. Towards the end of 2017, Evil Geniuses results began to drop. They placed 5th/6th at ESL One Hamburg and 6th/7th at DOTA Summit 8 and following this, ‘UNiVeRsE’ left the team to join Fnatic.

Fnatic

‘UNiVeRsE’ joined two of his former teammates in the Southeast Asian scene by joining Fnatic although the team’s results were somewhat varied. They participated in a number of qualifiers at the beginning of 2018 and received mixed results overall. At ESL One Genting, they placed 9th/12th. However, this result quickly improved to a 4th place finish at ESL One Katowice a month later.

International tournaments

‘UNiVeRsE’ has a long history with Evil Geniuses and has helped the team achieve several phenomenal results. His most notable result is of course the victory at The International 2015. In addition to this, he placed 3rd at The International 2014 and 2016. He has also achieved 3rd place finishes at The Shanghai Major and The Frankfurt Major as well as 1st place at the Dota 2 Asia Championships 2015.
