This event is going ahead after being cancelled in 2022 and looks to be the very first event in the region. The IEM Chengdu 2024 event will also form part of the Intel Grand Slam. Currently in Intel Grand Slam Season 5, the first team to win four S-Tier events wins a $1,000,000 prize pool.

IEM Chengdu Format
There are two stages of competition to look forward to. Firstly, it all starts with a Group Stage with two double-elimination format (GSL) Groups:
- Each group has eight teams
- Group A – G2 Esports, 9z Team, HEROIC, Team Liquid, FURIA Esports, Lynn Vision, MOUZ, TYLOO
- Group B – FaZe Clan, Nemiga Gaming, Astralis, Monte, Cloud9, Jeeves, Virtus.pro, Wildcard Gaming
- BO1 opening matches
- BO3 following matches
From each Group, progress to the Playoffs is as follows:
- Winners advance to the Semifinals
- Runners-up advance to the Quarterfinals as High Seeds
- 3rd advanced to the Quarterfinals as Low Seeds
Once in the Playoffs, a single-elimination bracket with BO3 matches will determine the competition.

In terms of general structure, the two stages of competition are split into the following schedule:
- Group Stage: April 8-12, 2024
- Playoffs: April 12-14, 2024
With regards to the Playoffs, the following matches are scheduled:
- Upper Bracket Semifinal 1 – 13/04/24 – 09:00 CEST
- Upper Bracket Semifinal 2 – 13/04/24 – 09:00 CEST
- Grand Final – 14/04/24 – 12:30 CEST
