Team Liquid announces Insania has retired from Dota 2 esports
Team Liquid has announced that Aydin ‘Insania’ Sarkohi has retired from professional Dota 2 esports, concluding a remarkable 10-year career and six years with the organisation.
The announcement, shared via Team Liquid’s social media, celebrated Insania’s journey, which culminated in lifting the Aegis at The International 2024.
During his career, he cemented himself as one of Europe’s best Dota 2 esports players.
What did Team Liquid say in their statement?
Team Liquid announced Insania’s retirement from professional Dota 2 after ‘six unforgettable years’ with the organisation.
The statement added: “His story comes full circle after lifting the Aegis at TI 2024, a moment that will always be a defining part of our team’s history.
“We’re so honored to be the team where he chose to close this chapter, and grateful for every year he spent representing us.
“Few can say they have achieved the pinnacle of their craft, and even fewer can say they did it while being adored by everyone they crossed paths with. Aydin is among that rare few, and every person he interacted with was affected for the better.”
Team Liquid announced it will ‘share something special soon’ to honour the legacy of Insania.
What is next for Insania?
Insania has confirmed he will be looking to work in the Dota 2 scene in the future despite retiring as a player professionally.
He also hinted that he will make a longer statement in the future, which could open up on why he has decided to retire and what his next steps are.
Insania tweeted: “Thanks for the overwhelming amount of people saying kind and nice words. I’ll make a longer post at some point but for now just know I’ll be taking a break but will be looking to work in the Dota scene again.
“Whether that’s casting or coaching I haven’t decided yet.”
What Insania achieved during his Dota 2 esports career
Insania achieved some notable event wins during his excellent Dota 2 esports career.
He was a former Heroes of Newerth player, before switching to Dota 2. In 2016, he played for Team Doge and SOLIDUDES, playing for a team mostly consisting of Heroes of Newerth players.
Insania got his big break when he replaced Troels Lyngholt ‘syndreN’ Nielsen on Ninjas in Pyjamas.
He joined Alliance in 2018 nd won several regional tournaments, which included the joinDOTA Season 13 Europe and GG.Bet Birmingham Invitational.
He then joined Team Liquid in 2019 where he achieved Tier 1 success. A third-place finish at The International in 2022 led to second-place finishes at Lima Major 2023, DreamLeague Season 19 and the ESL One Berlin Major 2023.
His big win at The International in 2024 when Team Liquid beat Gaimin Gladiators to lift the Aegis.
Insania also scored victories at PGL Wallachia Seasons 3 and 4.
