XDOTG Takes Over Vancouver Surge Ops for 2026 CDL Revival
In a powerhouse move for North American esports, XDOTG has snagged the operating rights to Call of Duty League franchise Vancouver Surge, owned by Canucks Sports and Entertainment.
Fresh off its September 2025 launch, this marks XDOTG’s inaugural partnership, with the agency set to steer the team through the 2026 season.
The announcement, dropped on November 6th by XDOTG founder Alex Gonzalez, signals a revamp for the Surge just months after a full roster shakeup.
A Fresh Start for the Surge
Vancouver Surge, fresh from a stellar 2025 campaign with runner up finishes at Major 2 (March), Major 3 (April), and the CDL Championship (June), hit reset in August. On the 13th, the franchise cut ties with its entire roster to rebuild for Black Ops 7.
No new players have been unveiled yet, but the operational handover to XDOTG promises streamlined management, from scouting to branding. Financial terms remain under wraps, but XDOTG’s role will encompass day to day operations, blending their agency expertise with Canucks Sports and Entertainment’s deep pockets.
Key Hires to Fuel the Revival
To hit the ground running, XDOTG’s bringing in a trio of CoD vets to bolster the Surge’s backend. Leading the charge as Head Coach and General Manager is Ricky ‘Atura’ Lugo, who recently guided Challengers squad OMiT through Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Rounding out the core is Jaden ‘Kazbo’ Kurtz as Creative Directoor.
Complementing him is Nate ‘Swagchecked’ Betancourt, the new Brand Manager and OMiT alum, whose expertise in fan engagement and marketing will drive deeper connections with the passionate Surge following.

In 2025, Vancouver Surge solidified its status as a Call of Duty League powerhouse, delivering consistent excellence amid fierce competition.
The team kicked off the year strong with back to back runner up finishes at Major 2 in March and Major 3 in April, showcasing tactical brilliance in Black Ops 6. This momentum carried them to the CDL Championship in June, where they again claimed silver, capping a season of heartbreak just shy of the crown.
Seeking a fresh edge for the upcoming Black Ops 7 launch in December, Vancouver Surge made a bold pivot on August 13, releasing its entire roster to rebuild from the ground up. Fans are buzzing with anticipation, but the franchise has kept its new lineup under wraps, teasing a roster reveal that could redefine their dynasty.
