Brazilian and European Titans Claim Playoff Glory: FURIA, NiP, and G2 Advance at BLAST R6 Major Munich

FURIA Esports

FURIA have secured playoffs spot in BLAST R6 Major Munich with a dominant 2-0 win over w7m esports. Prior to today’s match-up, FURIA had a perfect 7-0 record over their Brazilian rivals since March 2024 and this win extends that streak to eight series in a row.

The best of three win was a textbook roll-out as FURIA thrashed w7m 7-3 and 7-2 on Lair and Skyscraper, respectively. The Black Panthers, now reigning Six Invitational 2024 champions in confidence as well as fact, unleashed on their former home-country rivals and kept alive their hopes of a third BLAST R6 Major title. Defending champions w7m esports have also been mathematically knocked out of the competition.

Ninjas in Pyjamas

In a pulse pounding best of three showdown, Ninjas in Pyjamas clinched their playoff spot at the BLAST

Ninjas in Pyjamas secured their place in the BLAST R6 Major Munich playoffs after a thrilling 2-1 best of three decider clash with Team BDS. The Brazilians had a strong start out of the gate, taking Clubhouse solidly in their favour before the EU squad fired back to steal Skyscraper 8-6. But NiP did not fall, exploding through a difficult overtime on Lair to close out the series and move them one step closer to maintaining their title run.

Each map had stretched into full marathon status, with at least 12 rounds each to complete — but the decider on Lair turned the tension up to maximum. BDS made a furious comeback, taking three consecutive defensive rounds to push it into extra time but the ninjas hit back with ice cold precision and showed why they are eternal threats.

This victory represents NiP’s first Top 8 at a BLAST R6 Major, with their last one being Copenhagen, where they lost in the quarters to Soniqs 0-2. It’s a statement run for the Brazilians, who are eager to amend that narrative on the big stage.

G2 Esports

In an up-and-down best of three showdown, G2 Esports punched their playoff ticket at BLAST R6 Major Munich with a scrappy 2-1 victory over Weibo Gaming. The samurai got the first punch in on Map 1 of Kafe Dostoyevsky, but Weibo came roaring back with reckless abandon dismantling their opponents 7-1 on the second map. Undeterred, G2 locked in the decider on Lair 7-4—epitomized by a comical misstep from “Reeps96” where he quite literally killed himself with his own C4 at a crucial juncture.

It was a gut check of a series that saw G2 come back from the brink after that one-sided middle map to keep their Top 8 hopes alive. The Europeans now advance to a high stake Upper Bracket clash against Team Secret the following day. A win there would set them up to play Team Falcons in the electric Munich arena, where the energy from the crowd could drive a second samurai surge.
