Gumayusi Bids Farewell to T1 After Worlds Victory

Certainly, the last thing you would imagine is Gumayusi clearing out his locker after lifting another Worlds trophy on stage in Hong Kong. But here we are, after seven amazing years, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong is officially no longer a member of T1’s League of Legends team. In that time, he compiled three world championships in a row, including the unexpected win in 2025, and even took home an LCK title.

You know, last year when Zeus left What’s that? That came completely out of left field, as a bombshell at the end of the season with all sorts of drama around those negotiations. We still don’t know to this day the exact reasoning. Gumayusi’s exit? Way different vibe. He is dipping out of off-season early, and it seems like he kind of wanted a change after being through hell and back with T1 for so long.

The Real Story Behind the Split

Before people go running around screaming that this isn’t T1 trying to sleuth their way into an upgrade, it seems as if Gumayusi’s decision was entirely his own. They announced the news themselves, with no leaks or dramatic social media posts, which is unusual for the League of Legends community.

Here’s T1’s heartfelt sign off on X:

“Gumayusi has concluded his time with T1 as he moves forward to take on a new challenge.
The trophies we lifted together and the legacy he built will always be a proud part of our history and in the hearts of our fans. We are deeply grateful for his dedication, sacrifice, and incredible performances throughout his years with us. As he begins this next chapter, we’ll continue to cheer for him and wish him every success ahead.”

Timing is everything, right? Gumayusi couldn’t have picked a better day to leave on than Nov. 17 , the very day his contract expired. Doran’s contract expired on the same day, but he’ll be staying with T1, which makes Gumayusi pulling the trigger a bit more in this case.

A T1 rep backed it up with this:

“After this year’s LoL Worlds Championship concluded, we had many conversations in a positive atmosphere, and both sides agreed not to disclose the detailed process. As a result, as mentioned in the video message, Minhyung has decided to take on a new challenge, and the organization also expressed its gratitude for his dedication and support for him.”

Where’s Gumayusi Headed Next?

What people will wonder is who signs this free agent superstar. Rumour has it that “Viper” might be looking to leave HLE. So the speculation could be Gumayusi taking his spot and reuniting with Zeus as one half of a bot lane. Unless Gen.G gets crazy and poaches him as an upgrade over Ruler, HLE has to be the frontrunner here.

Wherever he ends up, however, this shake up has turned the off season into a dumpster fire. And Keria? To lose your partner in the ADC duo who knows if hes going to hang tight.
