100 Thieves Announces Major Signings: sgares and messioso Will Lead CS2 Revival

100 Thieves have announced a pair of key appointments, a move surely intended as a massive statement proving the brand’s return to elite Counter-Strike with the unveiling of their new Counter-Strike 2 roster.

Two experienced industry figures, Graham “messioso” Pitt and Sean “sgares” Gares, have been hired to fill the Head of Counter-Strike Operations role and the Head of FPS role, respectively, to guide the organisation’s ambition for a new direction in esports. The post comes only two days after announcing a multi-year partnership with Roobet that will further embed 100 Thieves in Europe’s flourishing Counter-Strike scene, operating under the banner of 100 Thieves Roobet.

Assembling a CS2 Juggernaut

The signings of sgares and messioso are the first pieces for 100 Thieves Roobet’s future on Counter-Strike2 roster as teased in a statement X shared today. “These additions certainly are pieces in the puzzle to build this thing right,” described these as essential “pieces” while at same time sending a message that the org is serious about building a fortress stronghold operation.

The pair sat down for a YouTube interview released with the news to share some of their thoughts and feelings about 100 Thieves, as well as their journeys to get there. Messioso, who was recently released from Complexity following the disbanding of their CS2 program, is looking forward to getting back into action. For sgares, who used to play pro CS:GO and acted as the man in command for Shopify Rebellion’s VALORANT branch, he immediately could relate to the opportunity.

“You guys reaching out got me so pumped,” sgares shared. “I’d been enjoying the competitive side of things, but when the call came in about this role, I was beyond excited, I just turned up at the office right away.”

The synergy between the pair quickly solidified once sgares was on board, leading to messioso’s swift recruitment for his deep rooted expertise in the CS2 arena. Looking ahead, they outlined a strategic blueprint for the team.

“We’re optimistic about dropping roster updates before long,” messioso added. “Sean and I have poured a ton of effort into scouting the ideal coaches and in-game leaders. The next reveal should shed light on that front.”
