100 Thieves record one of the biggest upsets in LoL Worlds history
The League of Legends World Championship (LoL Worlds) 2025 Swiss Stage got off to an electric start.
In the high-pressure best-of-ones, the LTA’s third seeds, 100 Thieves, were able to shock LPL champions, Bilibili Gaming.
Considering the mismatch and the context leading 100 Thieves up to this point, it could just be the biggest upset in LoL Worlds history.
This is the result I’m the most shocked by in all my years watching LoL Esports. Post draft I would NEVER expect 100T to be able to win this game.

100 Thieves were 11/2 to win this game.
The organisation were unlikely to even make the tournament in the first place, spending a lot of Summer towards the bottom of the LTA North standings.
After their unlikely run to Worlds, 100 Thieves were still only able to barely make it as third seed.
And the team were unable to scrim in their Worlds Bootcamp with their jungler Kim ‘River’ Dong-woo.
The jungler had to scrim with lag from Korea due to visa issues while his team were in China.
And from the other side, BLG just won the LPL, one of the toughest leagues in the world.
Plus, they were finalists at last year’s Worlds and top four at this year’s MSI.
Despite that, 100 Thieves defeated them and did so convincingly.
Korean mid-laner Lim ‘Quid’ Hyeon-seung was particularly impressive.
The 100 Thieves star completely outplayed one of the best players in the world in Zhuo ‘Knight’ Ding.
This will supposedly be 100 Thieves last-ever LoL tournament and the North American org is certainly going out with a bang.
LoL Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage Round 2 draw
Following the first day of games, the draw has been completed for Round 2 of the LoL Worlds Swiss Stage.
The format sees teams randomly paired with another team with an equal record.
This happens until a team receives three wins to proceed to the Knockouts or loses three times and is eliminated.
Though all potential qualification and elimination series are played as best-of-threes with Fearless Draft.
These are the following LoL Worlds Swiss Round 2 match-ups:
- Top Esports vs 100 Thieves (1-0)
- Anyone’s Legend vs Gen.G (1-0)
- KT Rolster vs Team Secret Whales (1-0)
- T1 vs CTBC Flying Oyster (1-0)
- Bilibili Gaming vs Fnatic (0-1)
- Movistar KOI vs G2 Esports (0-1)
- PSG Talon vs Hanwha Life Esports (0-1)
- FlyQuest vs Vivo Keyd Stars (0-1)
There are two mono-regional match-ups which just so happen to be rematches of their respective Summer finals.
The LEC will pick up their first win of the tournament as G2 try to get the better of MKOI again.
And LTA North’s FlyQuest will take on LTA South’s Vivo Keyd Stars with the former heavy favourites.
