dev1ce Exits Astralis for Second Time Amid CS2 Roster Rebuild

Astralis has confirmed the departures of Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz and Emil “Magisk” Reif from its Counter-Strike 2 roster, paving the way for an international recruitment push in 2026.

CEO Jonas Gundersen revealed Magisk’s contract expires December 31, 2025, while dev1ce has agreed to a transfer ahead of the new season.

Farewell to Legends

Gundersen praised both: “Both players are true legends… We have long known that Emil would be moving on, and we have also been prepared for Nicolai’s transition.”

Dev1ce first joined Astralis in 2016, powering four historic Major wins: ELEAGUE Atlanta 2017, FACEIT London 2018, IEM Katowice 2019, and StarLadder Berlin 2019. He left for Ninjas in Pyjamas in 2021 before returning in 2022.

Magisk rejoined in September 2025 after being benched by Team Falcons.

dev1ce Reflects on Departure

“It has not been an easy decision,” dev1ce stated. “For some time now, I have been hungry to try something new… I am leaving Astralis on good terms… A huge thank you to all the fans… and everyone in the organisation.”

2025 Struggles Ignites 2026 Pivot

The moves follow a 19th place finish at the StarLadder Budapest Major. Highlights included third at PGL Cluj-Napoca and runner-up to Team Spirit at PGL Astana.

Gundersen outlined ambitions: “We have big ambitions… Astralis is Danish, with a Danish core… but we are not limiting ourselves to a single market… We will continue to build throughout 2026.”
