Envy Bows Out of Halo Esports

The bomb is dropped by Team Envy: they’re releasing the Halo scene. This follows hot on the heels of the Halo Championship Series (HCS) waving farewell to Halo Infinite at the conclusion of its 2025 season, as revealed on November 15.

These guys didn’t mess around on their short but sweet comeback. Envy solidified itself as an elite team in North American Halo, capturing a handful of top three finishes between the online qualifiers and LAN showdowns. Top it off with a strong bronze at the Halo World Championship 2025.

Envy’s boss, Mike “Hastr0” Rufail, didn’t hold back on X:

Envy’s aren’t just new to the scene,  they’ve been on the Halo frontlines since 2015, and we all remember that heart render in 2017? They scratched and clawed their way to the World Championship final but found themselves edged out by OpTic Gaming. Here we are this year, with Envy making improvement after winning the HCS 2025 Charlotte Major NA qualifier last month.

Halo’s Wild Road Ahead

With HCS abandoning Infinite, it’s a reshape of the whole ecosystem for whatever is next. Hope came in October when Halo Studios joined forces with tournament organisers ESL and FACEIT Group to “drop an open” at DreamHack Birmingham on March 2026.

Halo Studios is not standing still either, they are determined to have a platform for players and orgs to thrive on instead of a permanent circuit.

It’s a gut punch that Envy is taking such a hiatus, especially with the threat of them returning in full around HCS’s return, it almost sounds like the calm before the storm.
