Movistar KOI stay alive in LoL Worlds 2025

European League of Legends fans have finally been given some reason to celebrate at LoL Worlds 2025.

Earlier this week, G2 Esports defeated FlyQuest to become the first LEC team to qualify for Worlds Quarterfinals since Rogue in 2022.

Now, Movistar KOI could do the same as they stayed in the tournament by defeating Team Secret Whales 2-1.

Though initially it didn’t look like things would go their way.

Having thrown away their lead and chance to shock the LCK’s KT Rolster earlier in the tournament, MKOI threw again.

MKOI had the lead against TSW but mistakes from David ‘Supa’ Garcia allowed the LCP team to comeback and take game one.

The performance led LEC host Eefje ‘sjokz’ Depoortere to give an angry speech on the broadcast:

“The fact that you get given three kills for your Trundle, your jungle in the early game, that you push them around early game…

“Then, Supa, I like the guy, I think he’s been a great player in EU, but I think it’s extremely disrespectful to not have the presence of mind that they can catch you out.”

After MKOI eventually won, Sjokz then tweeted: “I should get angry at our teams more often.”

One more game loss would’ve spelt elimination for MKOI and things looked scary as they fell behind in gold during Game 2.

However, MKOI managed to outscale and eventually tie the series.

Supa still wasn’t at his best but strong performances from Joseph ‘Jojopyun’ Pyun and Javier ‘Elyoya’ Prades made up for it.

The duo were especially impressive in game three as they dominated the game to keep MKOI in the tournament with a 2-2 record.

They now await Friday’s game to see who they will play in one final Swiss Stage series. The winner of the best-of-three will advance to the quarterfinals and the loser will be eliminated from Worlds.

LoL Worlds 2025 remaining teams

Multiple teams have been eliminated now, meaning only 13 of this year’s 17 Worlds teams are left in the tournament.

And soon that will be cut down to just eight.

Today’s other series saw LCK champions Gen.G breeze past the LPL’s Top Esports 2-0 to qualify for the Quarterfinals.

That means the current line-up of Quarterfinalists is as follows:

That means there are still three places in the Knockout Stages up for grabs.

Tomorrow (October 24th) will see series between other teams with 1-2 records, where a loss will mean elimination.

Those matches are Bilibili Gaming vs Vivo Keyd Stars and 100 Thieves versus T1.

The winners of those series will be put in the draw alongside MKOI, FlyQuest and Top Esports, with no rematches from earlier in the tournament allowed.
