MongolZ Step Up as Falcons Skip PGL Masters Bucharest 2026

PGL has confirmed the 12 invited teams for PGL Masters Bucharest 2026, the $1,250,000 studio event running October 24–31 in Bucharest, Romania – with HLTV’s #1-ranked Falcons the only top-10 VRS side to decline their spot, handing The MongolZ the final invite from 13th place on the July 6 standings.

The timing matters: Bucharest concludes just before the November 2 VRS cut-off for the PGL Singapore Major, making it one of the last high-value ranking events before the Major cycle closes. Teams that underperform here leave themselves exposed on the VRS ladder with limited recovery options.

The Confirmed Field

The 12 invited teams are Vitality, Spirit, FURIA, Natus Vincere, 9z, Aurora, G2, BetBoom, MOUZ, Legacy, FUT, and The MongolZ. Four additional spots will go to qualifier winners across Europe, Asia, South America, and North America, with those qualifiers running in the second week of September.

Aurora return as defending champions looking to repeat, while Legacy – last year’s runners-up – come in with a tweaked roster, slotting Santino ‘try’ Rigal in for Guilherme ‘saadzin’ Pacheco. BetBoom and 9z both earned their invites off the back of quarter-final runs at the IEM Cologne Major.

Falcons’ Absence and the Betting Angle

Falcons’ non-attendance is the headline narrative. Fresh off their IEM Cologne Major victory, the NiKo-led roster sits at the top of the global rankings but will not be in Bucharest, removing the tournament’s clearest favourite from outright markets entirely. That absence sharpens the field considerably – Aurora, Vitality, and Spirit now represent the most credible title contenders on paper.

The format is Swiss group stage into single-elimination playoffs, capped by a best-of-five grand final – the same structure that rewards in-form teams but offers no second chances once the bracket stage begins. With qualifier results still pending and rosters like Aurora’s carrying off-season changes, outright pricing will shift materially once September qualifiers conclude.
