The Flank’s Black Ops 7 Invitational: CDL Stars Clash for $20K!

If you’re already excited for Black Ops 7, which lands tomorrow (November 14), we’ve got yet more exciting news. The Flank, the esport show that’s essentially your weekly fix of Call of Duty news, which just unveiled its Black Ops 7 Invitational tournament.  They’ve gone all out by putting up a hefty $20,000 (£15,197) prize pool. Giant furniture maker Herman Miller is appropriately sponsoring the event.

How It All Goes Down

The fun starts on Nov. 17 with the player draft where imagine a big digital wheel of fortune spinning and landing as players are randomly matched from CDL talent. The event falls on November 18. there will be 12 teams in attendance for this event, in game modes pulled directly from the CDL’s 2026 playbook.

The introduction of “Overload,” which will be replacing Control as the 3rd game mode.  A few more details remain sealed, but you can bet that it’ll be packed with league veterans ready to flex on the new title. No word on broadcasts so far, but based on The Flank’s history, it’s almost certainly going to be live streamed on the spots you’re already used to.

Last Year’s Epic Throwdown

Let’s go back to 2024. A dozen teams battled it out for a fatter $25,000 pot and the throne was taken by an elite squad – Thomas ‘Scrap’ Ernst, Dan ‘Ghosty’ Rothe, Isaiah ‘Gwinn’ Gwinn and Thomas ‘TJHaLy’ Haly.

This invitational is merely the start . The entire season of CDL coming at you with Majors in Dallas (Texas), Atlanta (Georgia), the UK and Paris. All with Open LAN qualifiers for grassroots players. FaZe Vegas will be hosted the event in mid July, which should get fans excited. Europe will be welcoming the middle east as it makes its challengers debut, offering players from the region to be able to compete.
