Twitch Subscriptions Return for LoL Esports Broadcasts
Riot Games has reintroduced Twitch subscriptions for select League of Legends esports broadcasts in the 2026 season, allowing fans to support their favourite teams directly.
Subscribers gain ad-free viewing and exclusive Twitch Chat emotes, with a portion of revenue feeding into the Global Revenue Pool (GRP) to bolster leagues and teams worldwide.

While specific channels remain unannounced, the feature first rolled out globally in 2025 returns amid the season’s kickoff, enhancing engagement as LCK and other leagues heat up.
Exclusive Limited-Time Emotes
Subscribers (paid or gifted only, Prime excluded) unlock rotating emotes tied to major events. The iconic “Bring it!” Pengu Garen emote returns immediately available until January 26.
Post deadline, fans receive the new “Hmph!” Sona emote through March 9, just before First Stand the 2026 season’s inaugural international tournament.
These rewards incentivize early support during early season action.
GRP Revenue Model and Recent Revamp
The GRP, Riot’s 2024 innovation, shifts focus from sponsorships to in game and digital revenues, 50% split equally among tier one teams, 35% by performance (regional standings and global events), and 15% via Fandom Shares for top fanbases.
Earlier this week, Riot revamped the structure by scrapping regional split prize pools, reallocating funds to long term ecosystem growth while maintaining GRP funding for global event prizes.
Twitch subs strengthen this model, fostering sustainable fan driven revenue for LoL’s thriving esports landscape.
