Warzone Celebrates Esports with In Game Banners

Activision is giving Warzone esports legends their due in the most immersive way possible, by plastering victory banners directly onto iconic maps in Call of Duty: Warzone. The Season 1 update transformed Verdansk and Rebirth Island into a hall of fame, honouring top teams from major tournaments like the World Series of Warzone (WSOW) and Esports World Cup (EWC).

This marked the first major tournament victory for Twisted Minds’ talented roster, all three of whom have had notable careers in Warzone

Verdansk Stadium Pays Tribute to WSOW Champions

The Verdansk stadium facade now boasts massive billboards celebrating Team Vision’s dominant win at the WSOW Global 2025. Towering above it all is a stunning statue modelled after the winner’s trophy, complete with a pedestal engraved not just for Vision, but also Team Biffle (2023 champs) and Team Falcons (2024 winners).

This isn’t Activision’s first rodeo as well. Back in 2020, after Dallas Empire’s CDL Championship triumph, their banners and trophy appeared in game. History is repeating, but on a grander scale.

Rebirth Island Honors EWC Heroes

Over on the fast paced Rebirth Island, billboards salute Twisted Minds’ EWC World Championship glory. Adorning the prison walls and factory roof are images of the Saudi org’s star trio in their signature tees. The placement feels perfect for a Resurgence format event.

The Business of In Game Esports Ads

These banners highlight the growing role of in game advertising in esports. Budgets hinge on audience size, peak engagement during majors like WSOW finals, and platform differences (console vs PC vs mobile). Marketers must strike a balance for ads that feel organic rather than intrusive.

Teasing Warzone Esports Future

While Activision stays mum on 2026 plans post Season 1, teams are gearing up. South Korea’s T1 just signed a powerhouse British trio, including 2025 WSOW champ “Echo,” signaling the scene’s momentum.
