PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026: Massive Lineup Confirmed, Marking a Huge Win for PGL
PGL has unveiled an impressive roster for its upcoming Cluj-Napoca Counter-Strike 2 tournament, securing participation from 14 of the current top 16 teams in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS). This achievement stands out as a major milestone for the organiser, especially after facing challenges in drawing elite squads throughout 2025.

Team Spirit (ranked #4) and Team Liquid (#13) are the only notable absences from the top tier. In their place, Heroic and paiN Gaming snag the final spots as the 17th and 18th ranked teams, rounding out a highly competitive field.

A Game Changer for PGL’s Reputation
This powerhouse lineup represents a dramatic turnaround for PGL, which saw diminished attendance from top contenders at its 2025 events. The previous Cluj-Napoca tournament, for instance, featured just five of the top 10 teams, Falcons, FaZe, Eternal Fire, The MongolZ, and MOUZ.
Other PGL stops fared even worse, PGL Bucharest drew five top 10 teams, Astana managed four, and PGL Masters Bucharest only two (Aurora and 3DMAX). Now, with nine of the top 10 and 14 of the top 16 committed, PGL has every reason to celebrate this February event.
The timing plays a key role in this success, PGL Cluj-Napoca slots in as the sole Tier-1 CS2 LAN in February, right after IEM Kraków wraps up, giving teams a clear window to participate.
However, PGL can’t rest on its laurels. Ongoing scheduling conflicts with ESL have plagued the organizer, forcing tough decisions like relocating PGL Belgrade to PGL Masters Bucharest to avoid overlapping with IEM China leaving Serbian fans without a major arena event for the second straight year.
PGL also scrapped an entire early-October LAN due to a clash with ESL Pro League Season 24.Looking ahead, PGL aims to close the year strong with PGL Singapore, but the road remains bumpy amid fierce competition for top talent and calendar slots. This Cluj-Napoca lineup could signal a resurgence if PGL navigates the challenges ahead.
