Over 30,000 Fans Descend on Sapporo for ALGS Year 5 Championship

More than 30,000 passionate Apex Legends fans are flooding the Daiwa House Premist Dome in Sapporo, Japan, for the ALGS 2026 Championship also known as the ALGS Year 5 Championship running from January 15-18.

The $2 million USD prize pool is up for grabs as 40 top teams from all six regions battle in intense matches, with fans enjoying exclusive perks like Twitch Drops, watch parties, and cosplayer meet-and-greets.

Sapporo Solidifies Esports Legacy

Sapporo hosts the event for the second straight year after drawing over 34,000 attendees in 2025, setting a new benchmark for Apex Legends esports.

Electronic Arts (EA) confirmed the massive turnout and announced the ALGS 2027 Championship will return to the same venue, cementing the city’s status as a global hub.

EA shared their excitement: “Together with the City of Sapporo, we’re committed to building an unforgettable experience for our community. Whether you’re planning to join us in the Daiwa House Premist Dome or tuning in from home, we’re looking forward to bringing you some of the best competitive Apex Legends action yet.”
