JBOEN Stars as FaZe Overturn 3-12 Deficit to Reach BLAST Bounty S2 Semi-Finals

FaZe are through to the semi-finals of BLAST Bounty Season 2 after defeating The MongolZ 2-1 in the quarter-finals on July 31 – a result built on one of the more remarkable map comebacks of the year, with FaZe recovering from 3-12 down on Nuke to win the map 16-12 before closing out Ancient 13-8 to seal the series.

Nuke Comeback Sets the Tone

Nuke was a tale of two CT sides. The MongolZ’s trio of Zolbayar ‘tikuak’ Chimedtseren, Dugarsuren ‘DarkMeister’ Ireedui, and Usukhbayar ‘910’ Banzragch powered their team’s first-half effort, building a dominant 12-3 lead. Jakub ‘jcobbb’ Pietruszewski, Jason ‘JBOEN’ Boe Nielsen, and David ‘frozen’ Čerňanský then dominated the second half, sending the map to overtime after FaZe massed 13 rounds in a row.

FaZe took the advantage of starting on defense in OT and ran with it, posting a perfect 3-0 CT side before Ryan ‘Neityu’ Aubry clutched up to secure the map and complete the spectacular comeback. The MongolZ responded with a confident performance on Mirage, where Garidmagnai ‘bLitz’ Byambasuren and tikuak drove a powerful T-side to a 9-3 lead before a FaZe comeback attempt in the second half was put to bed, giving The MongolZ the map.

FaZe took control on Ancient, with JBOEN producing two big moments in man-down scenarios to put his team in control on their offense, which they carried through to a 9-3 halftime lead. The MongolZ grabbed a second-half force-buy win to show brief life, their up-tempo offense catching FaZe napping a couple of times, but JBOEN’s multi-kills on defense settled any doubt and FaZe closed at 13-8.

JBOEN Anchors the Series

JBOEN finished with a 1.16 Rating 3.0 across the series – 56-41 on K-D – topping the scoreboard across the series for FaZe and proving especially decisive on the Ancient decider. The primary source notes this is FaZe’s second semi-final appearance since signing the Danish AWPer, and his performances across both runs have validated the acquisition.

For The MongolZ, 910 led their side at a 1.20 rating with an 82.7 ADR, and bLitz was instrumental on Mirage, but neither could compensate for the Nuke collapse.
