Late-Built 1win Roster Faces Liquid in EWC Qualifier Playoffs
Vladislav ‘nafany’ Gorshkov said 1win’s newly assembled CS2 roster came together late in the process, with the organization helping make the project possible as the team pursues a place at the Esports World Cup main event.
The team, which had previously played under the TDK name without organizational backing, reached the playoffs of the Esports World Cup open qualifier. Three match wins separate 1win from the main event, with Team Liquid awaiting in the opening match and FOKUS, 100 Thieves, and BC.Game among the potential opponents deeper in the bracket.
Rapid Roster Assembly and Support
Speaking to HLTV, nafany said the team began practicing late because its plans were not settled until the last moment. Andrey ‘BELCHONOKK’ Yasinskiy was in contact with the group after being benched by PARIVISION, and nafany said PARIVISION was accommodating about letting him join them.
Nafany also said the team had discussed whether Petr ‘fame’ Bolyshev could play with them. According to nafany, Virtus.pro later spoke with 1win and allowed fame to play with TDK, after which the project began to move forward. He said he and groove had wanted to work together for a long time and that the pieces of the new team were connecting.
1win’s arrival reduced some of the financial pressure around the project. Nafany said the organization was helping the team and that working with SweetyPotz, his former manager at Cloud9 and Gambit, gave him confidence. He said the backing made it easier for him to focus on CS while the new roster continued to develop.
Realism and Playoff Execution
Despite his optimism about the group, nafany said the team remains young and needs more time to get used to each other. He pointed to individual mistakes and said the players come from different CS backgrounds, creating a need to connect their approaches.
Looking ahead to the playoff bracket, nafany said 1win’s chances would depend on its performance. He noted that the team can beat strong opponents on some days but can also lose unexpectedly, while adding that a strong day from players such as Artem ‘ArtFr0st’ Kharitonov could make a difference.
