Inside the return of Vici Gaming to Dota 2: Who is on the new roster?

One of the most exciting Dota 2 teams is making a triumphant return this year, with Vici Gaming announcing a new roster.
Vici Gaming was once one of the most prominent teams in the Dota 2 scene.
The Chinese team began to fall off in the past few years though and many thought it was the end of the franchise.
After forming in 2012, Vici Gaming became one of the biggest names in Dota 2 with peak performances coming between 2018 and 2020.
When the Dota 2 competitive format changed in 2022 with the introduction of Valve’s Dota Pro Circuit (DPC), the team began to struggle in competitions.

After being demoted in 2023, it looked for all the world that one of the biggest Dota 2 teams were out of the game forever.
However now they’re back with a mix of old and new faces.
Vici Gaming’s 2025/2026 roster:
- Zhen “Lou” Lou
- Hongcheng “Xm” Guo
- Chung “Ws” Wei Shen
- Jiahan “PYW” Xiong
- Cong “Dy” Ding
- Maps (Coach)
Pyw and Dy were both a major part of the team’s dynasty when they were at the top of the Dota 2 scene.
Dy actually retired following the demotion of Vici Gaming in 2023. His return is certainly an exciting one as Dy used to be one of the best Dota 2 players on the planet.
Pyw on the other hand has been representing various different teams since Vici Gaming took a step back.
The new players have varying CV’s, however all are vastly experienced which gives Vici Gaming a chance to challenge major tournaments on their return.
An announcement from the team read: “On this Mid-Autumn Festival, VG Esports Club extends our sincerest blessings to all of our long-time supporters. We also officially announce that after two years of development, VG is once again raising the flag and setting sail for our dreams!”
The new roster will now head to Belgrade, Serbia for their first tournament since returning. FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 is a $1million LAN tournament that takes place at the end of October.
