G2 Takes Convincing Victory At Red Bull Home Ground 2025
The organization just took over the Red Bull Home Ground 2025, defeating NRG Esports in the Grand Final 3-0 to put a cherry on top of what was undoubtedly a standout event for the city of New York. Sixth time lucky for the Americas squad at this event and this win felt like payback after NRG were flexing their VCT Champions title from Paris. But does this change much as we are in a wild off season world where anything seems like it may be possible in Valorant, does a victory like this really move the needle?

G2 Road To Victory
NRG was riding high off that Paris glory, they didn’t even lose a map on their way to the upper bracket final smashing Sentinels’ academy, Cubert Academy, and then the main Sentinels roster and finally Zeta Division in the first round.
G2? They had to grind. Sent to the lower bracket after faltering against Zeta (who dispatched Fnatic, too), but did they reverse the narrative. Swept Cloud9, Sentinels and Fnatic to setup a rematch Lower Bracket Final against Zeta. Then the 2-0 clinic, taking no prisoners, bringing that G2 swagger back.
The grand final started off as a nail biter on Corrode, where G2 survived it. Then they just ran away with Split and Pearl. NRG’s upper bracket pick advantage? Useless. G2 stole both their picks and went to sleep. 3-0. Done.
MVPs: Trent “trent” Cairns performing to the highest level with a 1.35 rating, and Alexander “jawgemo” Mor not so far behind at 1.29.
So, Does This Mean G2’s Can Snowball The Win?
Red Bull Home Ground delivered, it was filled to the brim with Valorant from when you wake up until the sun goes down, but it’s off season vibes all round. Teams, like Fnatic, are still putting together their 2026 rosters and figuring out who goes where. And the format? Mostly Bo1s until grand final, which is played over one weekend.
Bottom line is this is all about regional dominance. G2 has never lost to NRG in 2025 in any clash this year with the scoreline being 10 maps to 1. But international? That’s a whole different beast. VCT has breathing room, travel drama and full rosters locked in. A single off season sweep won’t change the script for Masters and Champs.
Ultimately, that was G2 reminding the world that it’s not a fluke, they’re stacked and NA’s biggest contender.
