The PlayStation Blog has dropped its 2025 Game of the Year nominees, spotlighting esports heavyweights like Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in a stacked lineup of multiplayer masterpieces.

Battlefield 6 Begins Esports

EA’s Battlefield 6 exploded onto the scene in October, snagging nods for Best Multiplayer Experience, Best Audio Design, Best PS5 Game, and beyond. The shooter’s classic modes and RedSec battle royale have ignited competitive fire, with creator tourneys like Jack “CouRageJD” Dunlop’s $100,000. CouRage Clash already in the books. EA doubled down by unveiling a massive $1m esports circuit: the Elite Series kicks off December 10th for top tier pros, followed by the Open Series community battles on December 12th.

Black Ops 7 Powers CoD’s Legacy

Call of Duty’s Black Ops 7, fresh off its November launch, isn’t far behind, earning Best PS5 Game and Best Graphical Showcase honors. The franchise titan continues dominating via the Call of Duty League, which just mapped out its 2026 roadmap, from Stage 1 qualifiers to the grand Championship cementing its esports legacy since 2020.

The esports love doesn’t stop there. Marvel Rivals nabbed a Best Multiplayer spot after NetEase’s Ignite Series pitted regional powerhouses head to head. EA Sports FC 26 scored Best Sports Game, building on its FC Pro World Championship triumph in Germany last year and gearing up for 2026 circuits like the revamped ePremier League.
