Team Yandex Wins Over Team Spirit to Win DreamLeague Season 27
In a stunning upset, Team Yandex clinched their first Tier 1 Dota 2 title at DreamLeague Season 27, defeating powerhouse Team Spirit 3-1 in the grand final on December 21, 2025. The online tournament, part of the 2025/26 ESL Pro Tour, marked a breakout moment for the six month-old squad.

Formed in June 2025, Team Yandex entered the scene with veterans like “Solo” and bolstered their roster in October with star acquisitions “Watson” and “Malady” from Gaimin Gladiators, alongside Saksa as a stand in from Tundra Esports. Their rapid rise included a DreamLeague Division 2 win, a third place finish at FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2, and a runner up spot at BLAST Slam V.
At DreamLeague Season 27, Yandex navigated a 24 team Swiss stage, securing a 4-2 record with wins over Virtus.pro, Team Tidebound, and BetBoom Team. In the playoffs, they edged out Virtus.pro and Tundra Esports in 2-1 series, then dominated Team Spirit 2-0 in the upper bracket final. Despite Spirit’s 2-0 sweep over PARIVISION to reach the grand final, Yandex’s strategic depth shone in the best of five, overcoming an early loss to claim the title.
The victory earned Yandex $214,000, a $30,000 club reward, and 3,400 EPT points, topping the ESL Pro Tour standings. Team Spirit, the two time The International champions, took home $142,500 and $25,000 for second place. Yandex’s win, played on Dota 2’s Patch 7.40, showcased their adaptability and cemented their status as a top Eastern European contender.
As the Dota 2 community looks to 2026, Team Yandex’s meteoric rise signals a new era of competition, with their next challenge set for BLAST Slam VI in Malta from February 3-15.
