m0NESY Clutch Helps Falcons End Legacy Losing Run

Falcons defeated Legacy 2-1 at BLAST Open Porto 2026 on 29 August, becoming the fourth team to secure a playoff berth and finally avenging two recent losses to the Brazilian roster, including the CAC grand final and last week’s Esports World Cup meeting. The Major champions needed all three maps to close it out, but the win ends their recent losing run against Legacy.

Falcons opened on Mirage with a 13-6 win, taking firm control despite it being Legacy’s map pick. Legacy answered on Ancient, grinding out a 13-10 win to level the series and send it to a Dust2 decider, where Falcons closed things out 13-6. Both 13-6 scorelines, however, flatter the winners given how close the early rounds were.

The decider nearly slipped away. Falcons fell behind 4-1 after losing a 5v3, prompting coach Danny ‘zonic’ Sørensen to call a timeout and urge his players to reset. They also survived a lost 5v2 on map one without it costing them the series. From that low point, Ilya ‘m0NESY’ Osipov delivered a 1v3 clutch that extinguished Legacy’s hopes on Dust2, with the Brazilians managing just two more rounds the rest of the way.

m0NESY Leads Falcons’ Charge

m0NESY was the clear statistical standout across the series, finishing 56-29 with an 89.2 ADR and a 1.56 Rating 3.0 – comfortably the best individual mark on either side. His Dust2 clutch capped a series in which Legacy AWPer Santino ‘try’ Rigal had an off day after playing an important role in the Brazilian side’s recent resurgence.

Maksim ‘kyousuke’ Lukin provided another major performance, recovering from a rough 6-20 K-D on map two to post a 2.03 rating on the Dust2 decider. Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kovač added support with 49-36 and a 1.22 rating, giving Falcons multiple players who contributed across the series.

A Fourth Playoff Ticket for Falcons

The result locks in at least a top-six finish for Falcons and answers questions raised by their rusty showing against Lynn Vision a day earlier. They join a small group of confirmed playoff qualifiers, with FURIA among the other teams to have already punched their ticket to the knockout stage.

Legacy drop into the lower bracket, where Vitality await on 30 August at 10:10. Falcons, meanwhile, head to the playoffs after securing their place in Porto.

Growing up in Wrocław, Poland, he developed a sharp eye for team dynamics and meta shifts that most casual fans overlook, and that analytical instinct eventually pulled him toward the betting side of the scene. He approaches every matchup the way a statistician would, but writes about it the way a fan would, which tends to resonate with readers who are tired of surface-level picks and gut-feel predictions.
