LEC 2025 Season Format – Outlining the Changes
The LEC, one of the main regions in competitive League of Legends, has just revealed some LEC 2025 Season format changes. In this featured article, we’re taking a closer look and giving our take on these changes.
Goodbye LEC Season Finals

First and foremost, the LEC is maintaining its popular decision to shift to a three-split season.
Accordingly, the LEC 2025 season format will keep the Winter, Spring and Summer Split structure with some changes which may affect LoL odds as outlined below.
Considering the constant change throughout the season, Riot is no longer keeping Championship points in LEC. In addition, they will no longer seed teams to the Season Finals, a tournament which will no longer be hosted.
Keeping Things Excited
If there’s one thing franchising has exposed in esports, is that league-style games are boring and do not interest the community.
Riot has taken this to heart with their announcement to have different formats in every Lol tournaments for the LEC Split this season:
- Winter -Fearless Draft for all matches, three weeks of single round-robin group. Top 8 move on to double-elimination Playoffs.
- Spring – BO3s, seven-week regular season in a single round-robin. Top 6 move on to the double-elimination Playoffs
- Summer – BO3s, two groups playing against one another. Top 8 move on to double-elimination Playoffs.
In addition, LEC Summer features the LEC roadshow. This will allow for matches to be held on the road in local countries.
Overall, while these format changes will definitely keep things fresh, Riot is running the risk of confusing viewers if this isn’t explained clearly on the broadcast. To add to this constant change, all matches next season are being played on the live patch.
All the action kicks off on January 18th 2025 at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin – we look forward to tuning in. Check out the original press release here.
