Up to a few months ago, the community was preoccupied with the reveal of Valve’s new title Deadlock. However, Valve hasn’t really capitalized on the excitement, only offering small $1,000 open tournaments across two regions called ‘Deadlock Fight Night’.

Meanwhile, NetEase is taking a bolder approach to building its competitive scene.

To begin with, Season 0 of the Marvel Rivals Championship featured the following stakes which featured in some esports betting sites:

All regions (NA, EU, Asia & China) take place with the three stages of competition between 8th March and 6th April.

Early Days – Quantity over Quality

We’re a fan of NetEase’ approach for Marvel Rivals, both for the game and the esports scene – which is to throw as much effort at it as possible.

While the community has asked the publisher to slow down with the number of characters, the amount of content being thrown at the title is fantastic.

Now, for the esport, if Marvel Rivals wants any chance to succeed it needs more grassroots tournaments to build the community – quantity over quality. Yet, it also helps that there is a decent amount of prize on the line too.

We’re hopeful for the future of Marvel Rivals esports as we were back in December.
