Anyone looking at this match-up will have an immediate favorite – and that is ONIC PH. This is because the team has been on hot form ever since some roster changes in mid-2024, dominating the second half of the esports season last year.
Their domination in the Philippines, which is considered the most competitive region for MLBB esports was on display at the MPL Philippines Season 14, where they lost only one game in the Regular Season and cruised through the Playoffs towards the trophy.
At the M6 World Championship in Malaysia, they continued their hot form, once again bringing the trophy back to the Philippines.
Now, they are looking to replicate that in the MLBB SPS Challenge Finals after a comfortable playoff stage. They did lose one game in the group stage, though, which was against Team Liquid ID. However, since then, the team has redeemed itself after a 3-0 thrashing of Team Liquid in the upper bracket finals.
ONIC Indonesia – Can They Pull Off An Upset?
Indonesia has always fallen to the Philippines in international MLBB esports tournaments. But, can ONIC ID redeem the region this time?
To be fair, ONIC ID hasn’t had the most comfortable 2024 season. While they started off strong, winning the MPL ID Season 13, they got eliminated in the group stage itself at the Mid-Season Cup in Riyadh.
Post this, they placed 4th in the MPL ID Seaosn 14 and failed to qualify for the M6. Despite these setbacks, the team has conserved its core roster headlined by none other than Filipino pro-Kairi “Kairiii” Rayosdelsol.
The team is looking for redemption and this is the perfect opportunity. However, ONIC PH seems to be the favorite in this match-up.
