Donk Dominates as Spirit Set Up Vitality Quarterfinal Rematch
Team Spirit eliminated B8 2-0 in the Esports World Cup 2026 playoff Round of 16, closing out both Dust2 and Mirage by identical 13-9 scorelines to book a quarterfinal against Vitality without needing a third map.
The result ends B8’s run in 9th-16th place with $35,000 in prize money, while Spirit moves on to face a Vitality side they last met in the IEM Rio grand final, according to HLTV.
Donk’s Dust2 Opener Sets the Tone
Spirit took first pick on Dust2 and leaned on Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets, who turned in a 2.43-rated map that included an 11th-round ace with just a Deagle and a quad-kill to close out round 22, according to HLTV. B8 stayed within range through the early rounds but couldn’t convert their close-round chances into pressure after the half, and Spirit pulled away for a 13-9 win.
On B8’s own pick, Mirage, Spirit tightened the screws further. The Russian roster dropped only three buy rounds beyond the pistol conversions, repeating the 13-9 scoreline and sealing the series in straight maps. Ancient, the potential decider, was never played.
Donk’s Series-Defining Numbers
Kryshkovets finished the series with 45 kills against 25 deaths, a 114.7 ADR and a 1.82 Rating 3.0 across the two maps, comfortably the highest mark on either roster. Andrey ‘tN1R’ Tatarinovich backed him up with a 1.18 rating, and Dmitry ‘sh1ro’ Sokolov added a 1.15 mark while helping Spirit control key mid-round moments on both maps.
For B8, Danylo ‘s1zzi’ Vinnyk led the resistance with a 0.99 rating and a near-even 28-28 kill-death record, but no B8 player finished above a 1.00 rating for the series.
VRS Standings and the Vitality Rematch
The result moved both teams’ VRS totals in opposite directions without shifting either team’s rank. B8 dropped 26 points, falling from 1,655 to 1,629 while holding 16th place, and Spirit lost six points despite the win, slipping from 2,003 to 1,997 while staying first overall.
Spirit now advances through the EWC 2026 CS2 playoff bracket to face Vitality in the quarterfinals, a rematch of the IEM Rio final that Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire’s side won just over four months ago, according to HLTV.
- B8: Eliminated, finishes 9th-16th with $35,000 and drops to 1,629 VRS points.
