Gen.G vs T1 Analysis

Three-time consecutive winners Gen.G enter as the first seed, hoping to secure their fourth title in a row, while World Champions T1 hope to earn their first domestic title in years. Two of the best teams in League, both have also now qualified for the Mid-Season Invitational and will expect to make respective deep runs in the first international tournament of the season.

Gen.G Strengths and Strategies

Gen.G has made a habit of winning LCK titles in recent seasons and looks to continue this trend following a roster overhaul for 2024. Despite their regional success, frequent international underperformance led to a revamped lineup built around superstar mid laner Chovy. Prodigy bot laner Peyz also stayed with the team, with the organisation then adding big names in Kiin top, Canyon jungle and Lehends support.

The new-look roster hit the ground running in its first split, walking the LCK regular season with 17 wins and only 1 loss and beating Dplus KIA and Hanwha Life Esports in the playoffs upper bracket to reach the grand final. Chovy has looked on a different level to all opposition throughout Gen.G’s run and has even looked levels above T1’s Faker when the two have faced off in recent finals. Used to winning the domestic matchup, Chovy and co. will expect to continue this tradition.

T1 Strengths and Strategies

T1’s star-studded roster seemed relegated to its ‘chokers’ moniker before their fairytale World Championship-winning run at the end of last season. Previously expected to break up the roster, T1 subsequently re-signed the entire lineup to keep them together for 2024, where the World Champions will hope to finally break their LCK finals curse. They’ve lost the last three consecutive LCK finals — all at the hands of Gen.G — and picked up only a single map across the three defeats.

Their fortunes changed with the Worlds win, finally securing another big title after losing many important best-of-fives in the last couple of years. Their 3-0 LCK playoffs upper bracket loss to Hanwha Life looked to be a signal that the choking issues weren’t completely eradicated, though their practice was hampered by DDoS attacks aimed at the team. A 3-1 win over the same opponent in the lower bracket put those issues to bed, and now they must keep their mental in check to finally beat Gen.G in a grand final.

Gen.G vs T1 Odds & Prediction

Lol odds on the big match can be gathered from a multitude of esports betting sites, most seeing Gen.G as the favourites. This is a rare occurrence for a matchup featuring T1; a team with such a storied history means they’ve got a legion of fans, many of whom put their money on their team’s success.

This will often cause fluctuations in the odds, often seeing T1’s odds inflated, regardless of whether or not they’re the actual favourites on the server. This is good news for those expecting Gen.G to continue their winning streak, giving the #1 odds of 1.61. Hoping for an upset, T1 enters the series at 2.2.
