Founded in 2017, Team Falcons has quickly built a legacy of esports champions with numerous rosters across several esports disciplines. In this featured discussion, we’re taking a closer look at one of the most fierce esports organizations in the industry.
Team Falcons – A Short History
Founded in 2017, the foundations of Team Falcons is in esports success. Specifically, the organization was founded by the winner of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Mossad “Msdossary” Al-Dossary. Accordingly, his goal involved forging a new vision for esports in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.
Since forming, the organization has had an aptitude to develop so-called “super-teams” with the aim of dominating the competition and esports odds. To do so, the esports organization has thrown the bag at players with support from the Saudi government in what certain esports journalists would call sportswashing.
Currently, at the tail end of 2024, Team Falcons fields several rosters – the most out of any esports organization in the world. Just recently, the Overwatch team just won the inaugural OWCS World Finals.
Falcons Finishing at the Top
With the background out of the way, let’s take a look at their rosters and discuss the success they’ve found so far in their respective esports games:
- Mobile Legends: Bang Bang – partnering with AP.Bren in 2024, they’ve since finished second at the MLBB Mid Season Cup and won the Snapdragon Pro Series Season 5 APAC Challenge Finals.
- Apex Legends – entering in 2024, the team won the ALGS North American Pro League and second at the Esports World Cup 2024.
- Call of Duty – the roster debuts in the Call of Duty League in the coming months.
- CS2 – reforming the roster in 2024 with new signings, the team recently placed 1st-2nd at BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown 2024 but has struggled overall.
- Dota 2 – since forming in 2023, this has been their most dominant roster. Earning over $3,000,000 in prizes over just one season,the Falcons walked away as victors in six international tournaments and 4th at TI 2024.
- Overwatch – inaugural champions of the OWCS World Finals 2024 after winning the OWCS Asia Stage 2 Main Event and Stage 2 Korea tournaments.
- Rocket League – building on success from 2022, the roster recently finished second at the Esports World Cup 2024 and RLCS 2024 Major 2: London.
- Rainbow Six Siege – beyond dominating the MENA region, Falcons has little to show for in R6S Esports besides a 5-8th finish at BLAST R6 Major Montreal 2024.
- Free Fire – forming in 2024, the team managed to win the Free Fire World Series Southeast Asia 2024 Spring and the Esports World Cup 2024.
- PUBG Mobile – competing since 2021, the team has secured a 2nd place finish at the PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022 beyond regional dominance.
- PUBG – regular international contenders, recently won the PUBG Americas Series 3.
- Honor of Kings – recently earned a 7-8th finish at the Honor of Kings Championship 2024, with much more work to do.
- Fortnite – with regular contention in Europe, the team managed a 3rd place finish at the FNCS 2024 Global Championship.
- Fighting Games – in the realm of Tekken, Falcons are heavyweights with a win at CEO 2024, 2nd at EVO 2024 and 2nd at Esports World Cup.
- EA Sports FC – an impressive 3-4th finish at the Esports World Cup 2024
- VALORANT – recently shut down.
A Winning Legacy – Facing the Critics
Although money talks, Falcons have struggled to win in every esport they compete in. Indeed, critics only tend to rear their heads when Falcons earn their victories. Moreover, critics are either complaining of the lack of funds in esports or in the case of Falcons, the complete opposite – a tough crowd. At the end of the day, for esports to survive investment is needed.
Bearing this in mind, we’re curious to see whether Falcons continues to field more rosters and for Team Falcons to work on their relationship with international tournament organizers and publishers such as Riot Games.
In terms of esports betting, a Falcons team is always worth considering as potential favourites depending on the esport.
