Championship Points – Matches Matter

The major shift Riot Games is trying to implement is adding stakes to every match this season and making VALORANT one of the best esports games.

Most importantly, this involves abandoning the round-robin format where each team faces every other team once. Opting for a hybrid groups stage with a round-robin, Riot’s decision will help add excitement at every point in the season.

In addition, every region will now expand to 8 teams at the Playoffs to add more thrill.

And then there’s the new Championship Points system to add more weight to every single match as outlined in the above graphic. Indeed, this fixes the problem from last season where teams would perform well but not earn any Championship Points at all.

When it comes to VALORANT, Riot Games continues to make respectable decisions – we look forward to the coming season.
