How to Bet on Fighting Games – Betting Market and Tips

Before diving into some bets, here are some betting markets to bear in mind:

Otherwise, our main tips include staying up to date with the particular esport and to use reliable esports betting sites for your EVO betting.

EVO Japan – Multiple Tournaments

Returning for 2023, after the 2022 return, the Evolution Champions Series looks to be bigger than ever.

Taking place across one weekend, from March 31st to April 2nd, all the competition will take place at the Tokyo Big Sight venue.

Notably, each title will have its own format and prize pool depending on the number of competitors and the decisions made by the independent event organizers.

To begin with, here’s a list of all the titles competing at EVO Japan this year:

Main Titles

Side Tournaments

For the purpose of this betting insights article, we’ll be focusing on the Main Titles.

When it comes to the event format, each event will feature an identical double-elimination bracket. Considering the number of competitors, this double elimination bracket may be difficult to keep track of – we recommend visiting the official EVO page to stay up to date.

Street Fighter V

Featuring a prize pool of $15,224, a total of 1797 players will be going to head to crown themselves the champions of Street Fighter V.

In this regard, according to FGC Rankings, the likes of “iDom”, “Fujimara” and “Bonchan” are strong favourites to win the entire thing and worth considering for Street Fighter betting.

Tekken 7

Also featuring a similar prize of $15,224, 1401 competitors will be lining up to take on the challenge of becoming the new Tekken 7 world champion.

Curiously, among the best Tekken players, the favourite here is “Arslan Ash” from the Asia-Pacific region, while “Chikurin” and “LowHigh” are also top contenders from Japan and South Korea respectively.

Guilty Gear -STRIVE-

Involving 1385 keen competitors, GGS, or Guilty Gear -STRIVE- features multiple favourites from the Americas region.

For example, “Jonathan Tene” and “Remi Celeste” have been isolated as favourites from this region, to win the whole tournament – let’s see if other regions can surprise here.

The King of Fighters XV

Next up for predictions is the tournament for The King of Fighters XV.

According to the FGCRankings, there isn’t much data to rank competitors for this title considering it was only released last year. Instead, what we can offer is the fact that “ZJZ” and “E.T.” walked away with 1st and 2nd last year.

Bearing this in mind, this tournament seems to be up in the air, and perhaps an interesting esports betting opportunity.

Melty Blood: Type Lumina – EVO Japan

Similarly, MBTL also features less available date, with only 500 applicants to make it to this main stage. Once again, consulting last year’s EVO is our best bet here.

Specifcally, last year, the likes of “Jing”, “Masoma” and “Kiri” were the top three players – perhaps they’ll show up again this year.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus

A beloved title by the Asian fighting-game-community, Granblue makes an epic return to EVO after the success of last year.

Back then, when the prize pool was only $5,000, the top three players included “Gamera”, “Tororo” and “Tako”. With higher stakes at hand this year, perhaps the rankings will shake up.

Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown

Rounding off our Main Titles, Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown is climbing the ranks.

At the last event, VFUS was only featured as a side event, where the podium finish included the names of “GentlemanThief”, “Crazydrunk” and “Yellowtail”. This time around, as a Main Title, the stakes are higher than ever, featuring way more competitors.
