G2 and Alliance became the final teams to qualify for the FISSURE Playground 3 playoffs on 10 September, with G2 beating 5star 2-0 and Alliance closing out a clean lower-bracket run by taking down magic by the same scoreline. The results complete the six-team FISSURE Playground 3 playoff bracket, setting up a quarter-final pairing between FURIA and G2.
5star arrived at the G2 series with momentum, having already knocked out The MongolZ 2-0 on 8 September and outlasted Astralis 2-1 on the same day as their G2 clash. That run, detailed in coverage of G2’s FISSURE Playground 3 campaign, ran out of steam on G2’s home map. 5star opened strong on both halves of Inferno, but G2’s comfort on the map took over once guns came up, and the Europeans followed up by dominating Ancient across both sides.
Alliance’s path was tighter. magic built an 11-4 lead on their own map pick, Ancient, before the Swedes clawed back and won it in overtime, then closed out Inferno 13-7 behind a strong T-side from Sean ‘eraa’ Knutsson.
