EWC HoK Invitational Midseason – Dreams and Dream Teams

The HoK Invitational Midseason at the Esports World Cup featured a $3,000,000 and seed spots for the KIC 2024. KPL Dream Team and LGD Gaming MY absolutely dominated the event and LGD went on to secure their KIC seed spot in the mid-season.
KPL Dream Team was unstoppable
For those unaware, HoK operates as an international esport with two districts – China, and the rest of the world. Moreover, the HoK 2024 Esports Roadmap splits the two into different tournament structures, which unite for tournaments such as this one.
With only one seed given to this dominant region (all top 6 teams the Honor of Kings International Championship 2023), a very special selection process has determined the KPL Dream Team roster. With a combination of public & professional voting, the following team was competing:
- Fly
- Pang
- Rong
- Yinuo
- NoFear
Without a question, a deadly team acting as huge favorites for their Group and the entire tournament unless a lack of teamwork throws these individuals off of their game.
LGD Gaming MY comes in second
Meanwhile, seeded into the other group to avoid them clashing early, LGD Gaming MY was the non-Chinese favorite.
Formed in May 2024 after signing the Black Shrew Esports roster, this team had no notable achievements of any kind except for some D-Tier victories. Rising to the top of Malaysia, the team earned a seed to the HoK Invitational Season 2 as underdogs.
Once at the tournament, they swept away their competitors, walking away as victors after a tense 3-2 Grand Final win over their Malaysian rivals, Team Secret.
Accordingly, LGD Gaming MY were the favorites for Group A and the entire tournament. LGD Gaming MY and KPL Dream ofcourse won both their groups, and met one another in the Grand Final.
