RLCS 2025 Esports Format Changes – $5 Million Prize
After the Rocket League World Championship concluded, Psyonix announced RLCS 2025 esports format changes. Let’s dive into these changes and how they aim to change Rocket League for the better.
A New RLCS 1v1 Format

Undoubtedly, the new RLCS 1v1 format is the most significant change to the RLCS 2025 season. Accordingly, a new 1v1 tournament series is planned to take part besides the traditional 3v3 tournament – a huge decision from Psyonix.
This opens up a whole new realm for Rocket League betting markets.
Hosted separately, the 1v1 series will involve Open Qualifiers in the regions of EU, SAM, APAC, North America, MENA, OCE and SSA regions across two Splits. After two grand final matches in Major 1 and Major 2 – winners earn a spot at the 2025 RLCS World Championship.
The best part? Players can compete in both 3v3 and 1v1 tournaments to make for thrilling RLCS betting.

At the end of the season, the RLCS World Championship is the climax of competitive Rocket League.
Now featuring 20 teams, the expanded tournament now features a Play-Ins stage. This allows teams from the Last Chance Open Qualifiers to fight one last time.
Another improvement is the seeding system for Open Qualifiers to minimize the need for teams to grind excessively for multiple tournaments each time.
In total, this confirms a prize pool of $5,000,000 for the entire season which is a record-high for Rocket League esports.
All of this is fantastic for Rocket League esports – we can’t wait to see Psyonix execute on these promises.
