Thunderpick World Championship 2024 Finals Betting Preview

The Thunderpick World Championship 2024 circuit is set to conclude this weekend at the LAN finals in Berlin, with $500,000 up for grabs for the winning team. Let’s see how the competition stacks up.

HEROIC vs OG

The first semi-final should theoretically be HEROIC’s for the taking, as they face a really young and inexperienced OG roster. The international lineup has been showing some decent results as of late, including a semi-final run at IEM Rio and a second-place finish at the Elisa Masters Espoo.

While HEROIC have had promising showings against some of the best CS2 teams, they are still quite inconsistent. The biggest example is their loss to the newly assembled ENCE roster in a BO5 Grand Final at the previously mentioned Elisa Masters Espoo tournament.

The CS2 odds are in their favor, but if they don’t iron out those little issues, they might struggle to make an impression at the Thunderpick World Championship Finals and events beyond.

As for OG, their roster seemed to be getting more and more random each month. Surprisingly, their current five-man lineup has already taken very impressive wins, including two victories over Virtus.pro and BIG, which granted them a spot at the Berlin Finals.

A win over HEROIC in the opening match of this event could be an omen of OG getting back into the discussion as one of the best teams in tier two after years on the sidelines. However, if HEROIC expect to qualify for the Major in the upcoming RMR, they should take care of business here.

3DMAX vs TheMongolZ

For a while now, 3DMAX has been dominating the tier-two scene. The French team currently sits at number 19 on Valve’s CS2 ranking, despite not attending many tier-one events. And when they did get to go to ESL Pro League S20, they were only one map away from making the playoffs. CS2 betting sites, including Thunderpick, strongly suggest that TheMongolZ are the favorites to advance from this semi-final. However, 3DMAX vs TheMongolZ is a much closer matchup than a lot of people expect.

TheMongolZ are a “weird team”. They are capable of troubling most top teams, but they also suffer surprising losses to teams that they should on paper be beating. Despite their inconsistencies, the Asian squad is comfortably the favorite to win this tournament and take home half a million dollars.

Their experience on stage should come in handy in Berlin, as they came out on top at YaLLa Compass 2024 earlier this year, after besting NIP and Astralis along the way.

Taking everything into consideration, including the fact that 3DMAX beat TheMongolZ 2-0 the last time they met, this semi-final is bound to be an incredible watch for all CS2 fans.
