Who are the CS2 EWC Favorites: Spirit, Vitality, MOUZ or FaZe?
Counter-Strike 2 has the most anticipated tournament at the Esports World Cup. With a stacked lineup of premier teams, CS2 EWC favorites include a handful of teams, and plenty of challengers for the throne. In our featured discussion, we’re taking a closer look at the competition and offering detailed insight into how these experienced rosters stack up.
Team Spirit – Fierce Favorites
Team Spirit are looking like the best team in all of Counter-Strike 2 right now and the CS2 betting favorites. However, although they are the champions from the recent BLAST Premier: Spring Final tournament, they remain mortal. Specifically, on their way to victory, while they never lost a game they did lose a few maps to other top teams such as Team Vitality and Natus Vincere.
Moreover, at Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2024, they placed 3-4th and fell short of their rivals Team Vitality. This followed their second-place finish at BetBoom Dacha Belgrade in May.
Tournament after tournament, this roster remains consistently at the top, led by their leading fragger Danil “donk” Kryshkovets.
Will MOUZ miss the mark?
MOUZ is an interesting team in Counter-Strike at the time being. Earlier in 2024, they went on an impressive streak winning both ESL Pro League Season 19 and BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024 – two tournaments within one week.
Moreover, after these wins, they were dubbed the favourites at IEM Dallas where they disappointed massively. Losing their opening game to 9z Team, they were then knocked out by G2 Esports to finish 9-12th.
Refusing to make changes, this team is sticking together and plans to bounce back from this loss. CS2 betting sites still pin this roster as one of the favorites due to their potential to bounce back and win this entire tournament.
Vitality looking vicious?
Considering that the Esports World Cup is a follow-up from Gamers8 last year, Team Vitality are defending champions after winning last season and claiming the majority prize.
While they ended 2023 with a massive win at the BLAST Premier: World Final, this feared team is yet to claim any silverware in 2024. This is despite their multiple podium finishes, placing second at ESL Pro League Season 19 and also at IEM Dallas 2024.
Overall, they seem to be struggling against other top teams such as FaZe, MOUZ, G2 Esports and Team Spirit in previous tournaments. However, this could be the motivation they need to dial things up and forcefully claim their first win of 2024 led by their frontman “ZywOo”.
FaZe and Natus Vincere – Eternal Contenders
For the past few years, FaZe Clan and Natus Vincere have constantly fought to dominate the Counter-Strike scene with great CS2 odds at every event.
Starting with FaZe Clan, this historic Counter-Strike organization have maintained their reputation with wins at both IEM Chengdu 2024 and the BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2024. However, following IEM Chengdu 2024, the team failed to find new results, finishing 5-6th at three consecutive tournaments.
Similarly, after winning PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, Natus Vincere also found some difficulty in maintaining their consistency, After finishing 9-12th at two tournaments in a row, they bounced back to finish second at BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2024.
G2 Esports is adjusting to recent roster move
One other team worth mentioning is the G2 roster. Exceeding expectations to walk away as champions of the Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2024, they won their first tournament for 2024.
However, the team quickly nosedived and finished 7-8th at the BLAST Premier Spring Final with no positive outlook whatsoever. After the tournament, a double roster change makes this team hard to predict.
Although esports betting sites rank G2 Esports highly, they don’t look too strong for CS2 Esports World Cup.
