Tournament Format and Schedule
Building up to the main event are the following stages of competition:

For each Regional tournament, a number of competitors (between 16 and 22) compete in two stages to try earn limited seeds for the Winners Stage and the Main Event as outlined by StarCraft betting sites.
Specifically, a Group Stage with a Swiss-System format allows teams to move on to Playoffs where the seeds are awarded.
Overall, 16 players will earn a spot at ESL SC2 Masters 2023 Winter:
- Korea Region Season #2 – 2 seeds
- Korea Region Season #3 – 4 seeds
- Europe Region – 4 seeds
- Americas Region – 2 seeds
- Asia Region – 2 seeds
- Combined Standings – 2 seeds
In the remaining stages, more players will earn a spot into the Main Event – a $75,000 prize pool for the top 48 SCII players in the world with exciting StarCraft 2 odds.
Specifically, the Open Stage and Winners Stage will determine the remaining spots at the main event in December 16-17th.
In addition, there are a tonne of ESL Pro Tour 2023-24 Global Points on the line which determine seeding for other international StarCraft tournaments later in the season.
ESL SC2 Masters 2023 Winter – Predictions
At the time of writing, with the Regional Qualifiers incoming, predictions are on our mind for each of the regions.
Starting with Americas, the following are the three best StarCraft players which are favourites for the event:
- Astrea
- SpeCial
- Scarlett
Notably, these names stood on top of the region at the ESL SC2 Masters 2023 Summer Americas event and are hence favoured to do so again this time around.
Meanwhile, ESL SC2 Masters 2023 Winter Europe has its own three favourites:
- Serral
- Reynor
- Clem
Everyone knows who Serral is. After winning IEM Katowice last season, he’s also dominated a number of international events such as ESL SC2 Masters 2023 Summer.
Apart from Serral as the heavy favourite, Reynor and Clem are two strong competitors who constantly challenge the favourite.
