Will Fnatic Become World Champions?
More than likely, that’s what we think.
Entering the competition after winning MPL Philippines Season 14, Fnatic ONIC PH placed poorly at the Esports World Cup earlier this year after placing 5th at MPL Season 13. After multiple roster changes in July, bringing on Kirk, Bursko and Spider-Milez, this team reached new heights.
Moreover, Fnatic ONIC remains the only side at the M6 World Championship that is completely flawless. After smashing the Swiss Stage with a 3-0 record (including a win over Liquid) they then kicked off the Knockout Stage with a decisive win over Selangor.
Put through their paces against Falcon Esports and forced to a fifth map, Fnatic took them down and then swept aside Liquid in the Upper Bracket to improve their Mobile Legends odds.
Everything is adding up for Fnatic, and two of the three competitors remaining are teams that they’ve already taken down at this tournament – it’s their tournament to lose at this point with days of rest and preparation ahead.
Team Liquid is Staying Alive
Everyone was worried about the Indonesian favourites Liquid during the Swiss Stage, but we still had faith that they’d come through. After losses to both Fnatic ONIC and Team Spirit (an unlucky draw), they clutched up to win their last two matches and qualify.
Using this momentum, Liquid managed to get back on the horse and return to their former glory, dominating Team Spirit 2-0 in the Knockout Stage. Moreover, in their next game against the giants of RRQ Hoshi, one of the best series of the tournaments had Liquid taking the series to a fifth map and winning it.
Now, after losing to Fnatic, Liquid patiently waits in the Lower Bracket Final to meet either Spirit or Selangor. While they have every chance of winning this match, we’re not sure they have what it takes to beat Fnatic and some of the best Mobile Legends players.
Selangor Red Giants or Team Spirit?
As the recent winners of the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2024, Selangor Red Giants have seemingly shrunk at the M6 World Championship. Struggling in the Swiss Stage with strange losses to S2G Esports and Falcon Esports, they only woke up after losing to Fnatic in the Knockout Stage.
Since then, Selangor has been back in shape and crushing the competition with dominant wins over NIP Flash and RRQ Hoshi. While Spirit has also performed well, Selangor will be bringing the heat for the coming Lower Bracket Semifinal.
