Fantasy Teams – Basic Guide
The concept of fantasy is popular in any kind of sport and esports betting, where individuals may pick out players from multiple teams to earn points depending on their performances. It’s also a market available for Dota 2 The International betting.
As you can imagine, The International 2024 fantasy follows this theme – pick out the best Dota 2 players from each role from any Dota 2 TI team to fill out a team of three. Regarding roles, Valve is offering a selection of three roles:
- Core
- Mid
- Support
In addition, the Fantasy is available for three stages of competition, each with a roster lock to pick your team:
- Group Stage
- Playoffs
- The International

How to Play The International Fantasy
Ok, so you’ve picked your players – now what? Here’s what you need to know about your drafted team of hopeful Dota 2 TI winners:
- Titles – each player title offers a ‘trend’ such as being “aggressive” or “patient”, this example relating to engagement levels and chance of first blood. Further to this example, an “aggressive” player that achieves first blood will score more.
- Emblems & Bonuses – three emblems will offer traits to look out for ranging from individual to team traits, each with a percentage bonus.
If you aren’t happy with your team, you have the following options:
- Replace player – swap out your player, but titles and emblems remain
- Reroll emblem stat and/or quality – choose which emblem you aren’t happy with
Any rerolls require roll tokens, so use them wisely as part of your The International Compendium.
Once you’ve mastered it, add your friends and compete to see who has the best grip on The International predictions. This is only one of many in-game features such as The Oracle’s Challenge and Bingo which involve a strong understanding of TI standings.
