Deadlock, Valve’s upcoming MOBA shooter has already amassed a huge player count, and is charting as one of the most popular games on the Steam platform before even reaching its full release.
What’s the current Deadlock Player Count?
Despite no official release date for Deadlock, and only being playable by invite from existing players, the player count for Deadlock has increased significantly since its initial reveal in 2024, and now has several hundred thousand concurrent players.

Deadlock Player Count
At the time of writing Deadlock has around 100,000 active players. The game reached an all-time peak of 171,490 concurrent Deadlock players early in September after its official reveal, and has steadily normalized since then.
These numbers are sourced from a number of places including Deadlock’s Steam Charts page and SteamDB entry. In terms of overall numbers, we’d expect Deadlock to have around 200,000 total players, as not everyone who owns deadlock will be playing it all the time. However, that number isn’t officially measured.
Deadlock is also the second most wishedlisted game on Steam, and has almost 250,000 followers on the Steam platform, making it one of the most sought after games on Steam. With the release of Deadlock Ranked play on October 15th, the player number is likely going to increase.
Deadlock’s Rise in Popularity
With a steady rise in players since May, Deadlock has had two major peaks in its player count.
The first came following the official announcement on Aug. 23, when the game surged from 24,000 players to over 171,000 in just two weeks.

The second came when matchmaking was made 24/7. Originally, each region had a limited period of matchmaking each day. This effectively meant that earlier and later in the day you had to queue on regions further away if you still wanted to play games.
It’s likely the game will only continue to rise in popularity, particularly as we have elements such as Deadlock’s ranked play to look forward to.
