As the second Major Tournament of the CDL 2021 season approaches, teams are pulling out every trick in the book to secure those much-needed wins. However, for some sides, it just hasn’t been enough – OpTic failed to pick up a single map victory last week, going 0 – 3 against both Minnesota Rokkr and Florida Mutineers.
On that note, Rokkr, with newcomer Standy, is set to dominate the playing field as we move into that all-important Major, with a $200,000 grand prize on the line. There are also just ten points between Dallas Empire (second place) and the New York Subliners (third place), with the latter team having exploded up the table since the first Major Tournament took place.
And of course, Atlanta FaZe remains unbeaten, but that fortune might just change this week at the hands of the most unexpected team…
It’s a busy playing field this week, so let’s get right into the predictions. Also, don’t miss out on our guide for the best Call of Duty odds you can find!
Florida Mutineers vs. Dallas Empire
Thursday, April 1st – 15:00 EST
Can the Florida Mutineers make April Fools out of Dallas Empire, in the same way that they did OpTic Chicago? Last week, the Mutineers were on top form, effortlessly sweeping OpTic off the board and into the gutter, but Dallas Empire has been a considerably stronger side of late. This is the first time in the Call of Duty League 2021 season that these two teams meet, but can the Mutineers live up to their name and overthrow the reigning champions?
Pick: Dallas Empire
Seattle Surge vs. OpTic Chicago
Thursday, April 1st – 16:30 EST
Seattle Surge has been having a rough time of it recently, navigating choppy waters with uncertainty. While Dallas Empire handed them a big loss at the start of this Second Stage, they did go on to beat both the Florida Mutineers and Paris Legion. It’s no secret that OpTic Chicago has had a really hard time getting it together recently, so perhaps the Surge can capitalise on that fact and bring home a much-needed victory to get them away from the bottom of the table.
Pick: Seattle Surge
London Royal Ravens vs. Toronto Ultra
Friday, April 2nd – 15:00 EST
Although everyone counted the London Royal Ravens out of the competition entirely, a refreshed roster has managed to scoop up two wins in as many weeks, proving that they’re not out of the game just yet. Ultra, however, has been struggling through the Second Stage, losing to the LA Thieves, and then Atlanta FaZe, before picking up a close win over the Guerrillas. Can they subdue a hot London Royal Ravens side?
Pick: London Royal Ravens
Los Angeles Guerrillas vs. Atlanta FaZe
Friday, April 2nd – 16:30 EST
As the competition pushes ever onwards, Atlanta FaZe continues to be a steamroller of a team, brutalising any side that dares step before them. They’re totally unbeaten, and we can’t really see the lackluster side of the Los Angeles Guerrillas changing that fact. The LA-based side has lost matches against NYSL, Ultra, and London in recent weeks – they need a win.
Pick: Atlanta FaZe
Paris Legion vs. Florida Mutineers
Saturday, April 3rd – 15:00 EST
As Paris Legion’s form goes down, the Florida Mutineers’ form goes up. Last week, Seattle Surge handed Paris Legion a crushing defeat, while the Mutineers swept OpTic Chicago in a big and much-needed 3 – 0 victory. In this series, we should be treated to a relatively balanced showdown, but we’re thinking the Florida Mutineers have the edge here. After all, Skyz is invested in his game.
Pick: Florida Mutineers
Seattle Surge vs. Minnesota Rokkr
Saturday, April 3rd – 16:30 EST
We wouldn’t like to be in Seattle Surge’s shoes right now. In the same week, Minnesota Rokkr decimated both OpTic Chicago and Dallas Empire, with the overwhelming rookie might of Standy leading the charge. Can the Minnesota side repeat that performance this week, holding back the Surge and pushing them out of the series?
Pick: Minnesota Rokkr
Toronto Ultra vs. New York Subliners
Saturday, April 3rd – 18:00 EST
If there’s one team that has comprehensively reversed its fortunes in the Call of Duty League, it’s the New York Subliners, driven forward by the hype train that is James ‘Clayster’ Eubanks. The Subliners have been on fire since the first Major Tournament, and what seems to be a paltry Ultra side might not be enough to put out those flames.
Pick: New York Subliners
London Royal Ravens vs. Atlanta FaZe
Sunday, April 4th – 15:00 EST
This is the one that everyone is waiting for. There’s a bizarre theory circulating through the CODsphere that the London Royal Ravens will be the first team to beat the mighty Atlanta FaZe, and if there’s one thing we love, it’s an underdog story. The London Royal Ravens have been making a determined comeback recently, but are the newly-added talents of Zed and Paulehx enough to destroy FaZe?
Pick: London Royal Ravens
Los Angeles Guerrillas vs. LA Thieves
Sunday, April 4th – 16:30 EST
It’s the Battle for Los Angeles! Two teams enter, but only one emerges victorious, claiming the title of the Kings of LA… Right? The only issue is, both of these teams have been underperforming in recent weeks, and fans of both are calling for shakeups within the roster. This comes as a surprise, considering the LA Thieves just made a change, dropping Temp for rookie Venom, which hasn’t necessarily paid off for the team.
Pick: LA Thieves
OpTic Chicago vs. Dallas Empire
Sunday, April 4th – 18:00 EST
This is the final match before the Major Tournament begins, and OpTic Chicago needs every point they can gather to secure an advantageous seeding. They’ve been missing out on big opportunities recently, falling to both the Mutineers and Rokkr, but can those fortunes change against Dallas Empire? After all, it was Dallas Empire that removed OpTic from the first Major Tournament. Let’s see how this unravels.
Pick: Dallas Empire
