MOUZ vs Vitality
MOUZ and Vitality will go head-to-head for the fourth time this year in the opening game of the BLAST World Final 2024 playoffs. Both teams have had ups and downs throughout the year and a win at this event could mean a lot for their confidence heading into the tail end of the season and, of course, the Major.
In their last meeting, it was MOUZ that came out on top, after a tense three-map affair. xertioN’s performance was the main driving force behind the victory, with his aggressive plays consistently granting him and his teammates early advantages.
So far at this event, they’ve had a mixed bag of results, besting FaZe in a really close game before getting trounced by a shockingly good-looking Astralis. Vitality suffered a similar fate – the international squad got mauled by Spirit before taking down Liquid in the lower final.
The only difference is that Vitality is playing with a stand-in. JACKZ is filling in for mezii at this event, as the Brit recently became a dad. The Frenchman isn’t exactly setting the server alight with his performances, but he is doing a serviceable job.
However, it’s still a huge detriment to the team, especially when the margins are so thin between the best CS2 teams nowadays. MOUZ should take care of business in this match and advance into the semis, albeit not without trouble.

FaZe Clan vs Spirit
The CS2 odds couldn’t be much more even in this game, as FaZe takes on Spirit in what’s certainly going to be a spectacle of a match to witness on the stage. If both teams are firing on all cylinders, it could even be the match of the tournament.
FaZe’s struggles in the second part of 2024 have been apparent for a long time now, but they may have turned a corner just at the right time, before the Shanghai Major. The international powerhouse lost out in their opening game to MOUZ but later bounced back and finally took down a big-name opponent in NAVI.
The rifling trio of ropz, frozen, and rain looked back to their best, playing extremely aggressively and hitting headshots every time an enemy showed up on their screen. If they manage to repeat that performance in the playoffs, then they could go all the way.
Spirit continues to rely on donk and sh1ro, some of the best CS2 players, to win them games, and even that’s not enough sometimes, like in their winners match against G2, where they lost out 0-2, with donk putting up 51 kills and 111 ADR over the series.
While the Russian squad is always dangerous, FaZe is in a prime position to get a valuable playoff win under their belt and gain some well-needed confidence before the RMR.

- Prediction – FaZe (2-1) Spirit
