Summary
At the start of every review here at esportsbets.com we like to give you the editor’s view — which is a summary of our findings. Here you can get the lowdown on just how good this product is before venturing into our full review below. Let’s go!
BetStorm is an interesting brand that has slowly creeped into the psyche of the British sports bettor over the last few years. Previously a little-known brand, we are starting to see BetStorm advertised more and more over the last few years. And honestly, while we do see some positives within the overall BetStorm product, we can only really describe it as a ‘work in progress’. ‘But that’s quite harsh criticism’, you might say; alas, it is, but we do have to be honest here. Our main criticism is that the website is somewhat basic and the welcome bonus isn’t all that exciting (more on that later).
Is BetStorm worth checking out then? Yes, definitely. Every sports betting site is worth signing up, even if it’s just to trial a new website and claim a decent welcome bonus. Will BetStorm keep you coming back? Possibly. There seems to be a variety of regular promotions that could offer good value. Does BetStorm compare to the likes of what we found in our Bet365 review? Not really. Bet365 is most definitely still king. But we’ll leave you to come to your own conclusion. Read on for our full review.
At esportsbets.com we kick things off with an overview of the welcome bonus. Realistically, any new customer or first deposit offer is going to be the kicker when it comes to signing up with a bookmaker. The UK scene, especially, is so competitive nowadays that brands such as BetStorm really need to push out amazing offers to gain new customers.
So, how does the BetStorm welcome bonus compare against the rest? Not bad. Not great. On offer at the moment is a Bet £10 & Get a £10 Free Bet sportsbook welcome offer. And while it’s somewhat low, it is at least one reason to check BetStorm out. But anyway, let’s take a look at those all-important terms and conditions:
Other than that, there isn’t really much else to it. It’s a classic bet £10 and get £10 in free bets. We suppose the good thing about this bonus is the very limited wagering requirements.
Looking then at the other promotions available at BetStorm and, we must admit, there are a fair few others to keep you occupied. For example the ‘Wager Wars’ leaderboard-style competition, where the more bets you place the higher up on the table you end up. The individual at the top of the table will win £150 in prizes.
Otherwise, there are various cashback bonuses, whereby if you deposit with specific codes (e.g. EURO) and place real money bets on a certain sport (in this case football), you can get up to 10% of your deposit losses back up to a maximum of £500. There is also an exciting esports promotion available at BetStorm. By registering for the GG Esports Leaderboard you will be entered into a league where points are awarded for bets placed. Place the most bets and you’ll take home a whopping £50 free bet.
Finally there is a casino bonus available as part of the BetStorm welcome offer. You can claim 100% up to £100 + free spins. Again, there are associated terms and conditions which you need to check out, but we feel this is a fair and generous welcome offer.
Now you know everything there is to know about the BetStorm welcome offer, let’s take you through our BetStorm esports review — plus we’ll check out the sports betting and casino products they have on offer.
Maybe it’s due to the fact that BetStorm isn’t really designed in an intuitive way that we struggled to find the initial esports betting offering — but, after a bit of digging during our BetStorm esports review, we can confirm that BetStorm does in fact offer esports odds. The thing that confused us was the fact there isn’t an ‘esports’ section, but rather game titles are somewhat lazily mixed in with general sports and leagues in the ‘pre-match’ section of the sidebar. But either way, we can confirm that BetStorm does offer esports markets, with titles such as League of Legends odds, CSGO, Dota 2, COD, Heroes of the Storm, R6 and SC2 all offered.
It’s a better range than some other websites actually but comes nowhere near what we saw during our Pixel.bet review.
A quick glance at the League of Legends offering and interestingly the sub-menu was further split into countries rather than leagues. Heading to the ‘China’ section and what came up were fixtures for the LPL; while selecting North America gives you odds for the LCS. It’s an interesting way to do it, but we’d much prefer splits on a tournament level. But regardless, checking the markets available for Team Liquid vs Cloud 9 and we were pleasantly surprised by all the available bets. Here you have odds for match winner, kills (handicap), total kills, first blood, first to 5 & 10 kills, first to slay the baron and first inhibitor — not a bad range at all. Overall then, while it’s a bit of a messy set-up the odds to be found at BetStorm are decent and will keep the general esports punter happy.
As we mentioned previously, the general platform is a little complex, hence BetStorm gets knocked down for ease of use. What we did enjoy though is the range of sports and leagues on. There is a lot to sink your teeth into. So, we guess it’s what you prefer — style, or substance — that will determine whether you sign up with BetStorm. The great thing during our BetStorm review we found was that the live betting interface — which while a bit messy — did provide you with a full and complete overview of what was going on during a live fixture. We liked the live tracker on the right hand side that gave you an overview of play in action — plus, the range of live betting markets per game was very extensive. But yeah, when it comes down to it, if you like a website jam-packed with available odds and you’re comfortable with online bookmakers, then BetStorm could be a good shout.
Finally, on to the casino review. And remember, there is that rather generous 100% up to £100 + free spins bonus to claim, so BetStorm might be a winner in your eyes already. Though, when we look holistically at their casino product and compare it to the likes of the major players (such as 32Red, Wazamba, Mr Green), we found BetStorm casino to be average at best. It’s honestly not a bad online casino — the range of slot games is a-okay. There are all the classic table games such as roulette, baccarat, craps and blackjack. And there is at least some form of live casino — with games provided by Evolution Gaming. But overall, as it’s not the best-designed website, their online casino does come across as a bit clunky. Overall, we give the BetStorm review of their casino a mid-tier rating.
BetStorm’s customer support can be accessed from a link at the top of the screen. While the colour scheme is garish and in a way insulting the eyes, you can — if you’ve not been blinded — make your way to the live chat section. Customer support agents are quick off the mark, though, so if you have any queries we’re sure they’ll be answered in no time. And like most other online casinos there is an FAQ section which answers the majority of common questions — unfortunately, in the vulgar shades of violet and fuschia.
BetStorm accepts all the common payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, Trustly, PayPal, Apple Pay, ecoPayz and PaySafeCard. It also accepts payments via PayViaIphone — which, while not a common payment method, seems to be legitimate.
One of the most common things that crops up is ‘is BetStorm legit?’ and ‘what licence does BetStorm hold?’. And well, given that BetStorm operates in the UK, they have to hold a UKGC licence. To be approved by the Gambling Commission all brands must comply with some of the strictest regulations in the industry. This means we can be pretty certain that BetStorm is safe.
So, would we play at BetStorm? Probably. But it all depends on what you’re after. If you’re a punter who values available markets over usability then go right ahead. For us, especially because the BetStorm welcome offer for sports betting wasn’t mind-blowing, we’d probably rather go with a brand that we know in-depth, like what we found in our Bet365 esports review.
