Format
As a seasonal tournament, Overwatch Champions Series betting involves being familiar with multiple stages of competition.
Firstly, several regional competitions across Asia, EMEA and North America offer stages of competition to allow teams the opportunity to seed for international tournaments.
Regional seeding works differently for each region, building up to a Main Event at every stage:
OCS Region | Stages | Main Event Prize | Main Event Seeds |
---|---|---|---|
Asia | 2 | $60,000 | Major (2), Finals (2) |
EMEA | 4 | $75,000 | Major (3), Finals (3) |
North America | 4 | $75,000 | Major (3), Finals (3) |
While Asia will involve a double-elimination bracket with 8 teams from minor regions of Japan, Korea, Pacific and a Wild Card, it’s a smaller path than the other regions.
Meanwhile, for EMEA and NA, each Stage involves a Group Stage and a Main Event with the following formats:
- Group Stage – Swiss (9 rounds, top 16 move on) and the Group Stage (Four GSL groups, top 2 each seed to Main Event
- Main Event – double elimination bracket, building up to a Ft4 Grand Finals
