What does BTTS mean in betting?

BTTS simply means ‘Both Teams To Score’. So it could refer to both teams scoring in a game of soccer in the Premier League or both teams to win a map in the LoL Worlds esports tournament.

If you make a BTTS bet and both teams score you’ll win your bet. If you make a BTTS bet and one of the teams doesn’t score or neither team scores, then you’ll lose your bet. Simple!

The BTTS betting meaning explained with some examples

While this is a pretty easy concept, we thought that it would be helpful to give you a couple of examples of BTTS betting:

Great BTTS betting tips

It’ll always take a little bit of research to figure out when a BTTS bet might be worth a look. Here are some things to keep in mind:

1. Look for those top-scoring teams and players

Every sport will have those teams and players who simply cannot stop themselves from scoring. Whether it’s Faker for T1 or Erling Haaland for Manchester City, it’s essential that you look at the past scoring record for each of the competitors. If you see teams with plenty of high-scoring individuals, you’ll know to put down a BTTS bet.

2. Watch out for leaky defenses

Conversely, there are those teams who are simply useless at defence. If you get two teams with leaky defences playing against each other, it’s probably a good time to make that BTTS bet.

4. Note the big rivalries

All sports are littered with those massive rivalries that aren’t just good entertainment but are also more likely to provide results where both teams score. This is because emotion can often take over and push players to score more goals while the defences come under greater pressure. So be sure to consider a BTTS bet if a big rivalry appears on the horizon.
