LPL 2024 Summer Split Overview
The LPL 2024 season is the 12th year of the professional League of Legends from the LPL (League of Legends Pro League) in China.
With a total of 17 participants, it is the biggest out of all the LoL tournaments and arguably the most competitive league in the world. The LPL Spring Split takes place between 24th June and September.
Following the end of 2021, the LPL enjoyed two new entrants: Anyone’s Legend and Weibo Gaming. The first one rebranded its team from Rogue Warriors, while the second bought the spot from Suning, keeping most of the players from the previous lineup. They will be looking to continue to compete against the top League of Legends (LoL) players in the region.
In addition, in January 2023, NIP was finally able to enter LPL by acquiring equity in the former Victory Five roster. With all of that being said, it is going to be interesting to see whether Ninjas in Pyjamas will be able to turn things around since they joined the League of Legends esports scene back in 2013.

LPL 2024 Format

For the LPL Summer Split, Riot Games is experimenting with a new format, splitting the season into four stages:
- Group Draw – 17 teams divided into 4 pools based on Spring Split, teams with home court are in different groups as drawn

- “Box-Out” (Unofficial Name) Stage – last two teams from Group A compete with top four in Group B, single-elimination BO5 matches:
- 8th Group A vs 4th Group B
- 9th Group A vs 3rd Group B
- 1st Group A vs 2nd Group A
The remaining teams earn a spot in the Playoffs and join the remaining seven teams.
Now, instead, more teams have the chance to fight for the title, which is essential since Championship points are rewarded based on the final standings. The Championship points are vital for teams that want to go to LoL Worlds, as the top seed gets a spot while the rest need to fight for the remaining two in the Regional Finals.
In this tournament, the top 6 in championship points (excluded the teams who already qualified) would go up against each other and mark the end of the LPL season for most teams.

Other organizations like Top Esports, EDward Gaming, and LNG Esports have all demonstrated high potential in the last year. With the roster moves done to all mentioned teams, they will be contenders for the top part of the league: make sure to count them in your LPL bets.
If someone told us that JD Gaming could acquire Ruler from Gen.G, we would call him insane. This was one of the biggest signings for the first split of 2023 and the roster used his skill to build their team – winning the LPL Summer 2023 tournament.
It is also crucial to mention Top Esports here. We do not have to waste words on how good Rookie actually is. This mid-laner is capable of winning games himself and on his good day, teams stand no chance against Top Esports.
From the end of the last season, it seems JD Gaming, LNG Esports, Bilibili Gaming and Top Esports will continue to be the top threats in the region.
