The Singapore Dota 2 Major has been a true rollercoaster so far. Contrary to expectations, European teams have taken a back foot, with China dominating for the most part. We have also witnessed one of the biggest cinderella stores in the game’s history, as the South American second seed Thunder Predator has taken the Dota world by storm.
Although almost unanimously ranked as one of the weaker teams entering the event, Thunder Predator’s nearly flawless team coordination and relentless pressure have seen them rise from the biggest of underdogs to legitimate title contenders.
Another upstart team still in the running comes from the SEA region, but contrary to expectations, it is not Fnatic. OB Esports x Neon has shown great resilience, eliminating the favored sides of Fnatic and Vici Gaming in their deep run.
With the level of play being so high, picking the correct team has seemingly never been harder when it comes to Dota 2 betting, so be sure not to miss out on our playoffs predictions that will be updated as the tournament progresses.
Predictions
Invictus Gaming vs. Thunder Predator
Invictus Gaming came into the tournament as one of the biggest favorites, but a loss to the surging Evil Geniuses squad has sent them down to the Lower Bracket. Surprisingly, they will be entering this matchup as the underdogs against the surging Thunder Predator squad. Both teams play an aggressive style of Dota, but Thunder Predator is in a league of their own when it comes to just that.
Odds aside, both of these teams are evenly matched up and proactive, so it’s almost a guarantee that this series will go all the way.
Prediction: Total Maps | Over 2.5 |
Odds: 1.94
Evil Geniuses vs. PSG.LGD
A lot of people underestimated what iceiceice brought to the table when he joined EG. Although they are the sole contender from a relatively weak region, Evil Geniuses play a calculated style of Dota that has brought them a lot of success at the Major so far.
PSG.LGD underwhelmed at the DPC tournament, entering the Major only as a Wildcard. But they have proven their worth, and are looking like the best team out of their region currently.
Although the matchup is a tightly contested one, our money is on North America’s hopefuls Evil Geniuses.
Pick: Evil Geniuses
Odds: 2.04
PSG.LGD vs. Invictus Gaming
Down in the Lower Bracket Finals, we have a faceoff featuring two of China’s finest. Both teams have had a fairly tough road on their way to the Finals, and both have claimed the scalp of tournament favorites Team Secret.
While Invictus Gaming has shown a lot of versatility, PSG.LGD employs a feast or famine strategy that has served them well so far. Despite PSG.LGD coming off as ultra-aggressive, IG has shown us in their series against Team Secret that they can play around said style.
Although PSG.LGD are the favorites coming into the series, we are giving the edge to Invictus Gaming. LGD’s success depends mostly on how well the laning phase went for Ame, while Invictus Gaming has proved time and time again that they’re quite possibly the best team at dealing against snowbally lineups.
Pick: Invictus Gaming
Odds: 2.08
