After revealing the OWCS in light of the failed Overwatch League, Blizzard has now revealed details for OWCS 2025. Read on as we give our own take on the future of this curious esports scene.

OWCS 2025 – Building Upwards

Indeed, plans for OWCS 2025 have only been revealed after the relative success achieved by the OWCS World Finals. Specifically, this year’s off-season tournament outperformed 2023’s closing Overwatch League Playoffs regarding viewership.

Bearing this in mind, the Overwatch Champions Series is returning for 2025 with some key changes. Overall, there seem to be more opportunities for Overwatch betting. First, there’s the season schedule as explained by the following graphic:

Of note, an additional live event is now part of the international schedule. Moreover, Blizzard is making an effort to broadcast every match, sync the regional matches and improve seeding for international tournaments.

Accordingly, this will certainly add more Overwatch odds for every match.

Relegation and Riot Games

In addition, Blizzard seems to be taking notes from Riot Games’ VALORANT through relegation and promotion schemes.

Specifically, the Overwatch Champions Series is the top of the pyramid. In each of the three regions, the following Tier 2 competitions take place:

Towards the end of the season, the bottom 2 regular season teams from the OWCS will have to face the top 2 teams from the Tier 2 scene to fight for their spots. This shakeup is exactly what the Overwatch League lacked and it’s fantastic to see Blizzard learning from their mistakes.

In conclusion, Blizzard seems to finally be going in the right direction with Overwatch esports.
